6*-7* Driver Head Options

I’m looking for a driver head that’s lofted in the 6-7 degree range. It will be for a “normal” driver, not a long drive setup so apologies if I posted this in the wrong forum. Seems to me the only option is a 8* or 8.5* and open up the face angle to lower the loft which is something I’d prefer not to do. Anybody have any ideas?

Figured the Long Drivers Lab forum was the right place to ask this bc of the low loft. If it should be moved from this forum just LMK and it will be moved.

It’s not the wrong place, this forum just doesn’t get lots of views...

im not sure on a driver currently made by a major company... I’d bet they have some available, just need to know or ask the right person.

you can always source a long drive head, it has drawbacks of course, but would be the easiest route.

ebay will have some options, but buyer beware...

do you have a particular head in mind? Might be worth emailing the company...

You will pay extra for this but check out the spec stickers on tour issue sim and even sim max 8 degree heads. I've seen some in the 6.9-7.0 range.

Is that through one of the guys here? I feel like @TollBros could probably make it happen.

There are a bunch on eBay. Usually $500+ for just the head. They usually get listed in batches so if you don't see on you like just wait a little.

Also If you can find someone who can digitally test the lofts on regular 8 degree heads you wouldn't need the up charge of a tour issue head. (Sim max 8 is probably only available as a tour issue head) In my experience looking at spec stickers the 9 degree heads are usually higher than 9 and the 8 degree heads are usually lower than 8 or at least the ones that make it to the resale market.

Don’t have a particular head in mind. Would prefer it to be from a big box oem because that’s what I’m familiar with vs a long drive company. Unfortunately don’t have any connections in a company so I’m assuming I’ll get the generic “we don’t offer a driver in that loft” response but might as well give it a try.

There are a few GolfWRX sponsors who sell heads from tour vans ... they will have access.

It’s doable with some legwork. Might have to settle for an 8 degree head, though.

Yeah ebays hit or miss but there’s a few >8* heads for sale from sellers I trust. Probably will go that route. @TollBros used to sell some rare stuff like that but I guess they’re having issues? I haven’t been on here in a long time so not sure what’s going on with him and greengrassevaluations.

House of forged has been reliable for me... I haven’t had the chance to do business with toll.

I know you're saying you don't want to loft down (opening the face), but I've found that my SIM driver sits closed at address in the default setting. I actually went with 10.5* initially so I could loft down to 9* to get the face to sit square. I found I was hitting it slightly too high that way, so switched down to the 9* stock and loft down to either 8.25* or 7.5* depending on course conditions. Face seems to sit much more square that way for me.

I'd imagine getting the 8* SIM and then lofting down to 6.5* would sit square as well, and be at a loft you are looking for. Can even take it down to 6* if you don't mind the face being slightly open at address (more upright this way too).
