Takeaway feel. Basketball down the line VS over the shoulder?

Over the years I have read of 2 conflicting "feels" for the golf swing.

If you imagine you are stood in your address position with a basketball between your hands - the two swings appear to be

1) passing the basketball sideways to someone stood on the target line to your right.

2) passing the basketball to someone behind you just over your right shoulder.

I often toy around with both feels and have played good golf with both of them at times, but I wonder which is more 'standard'? OR does anyone have any other feels they can relate a golf swing too?

This is very similar to the swing being described as skipping a stone vs throwing an axe into the ball. Essentially 2 completely different motions.

I posted this on another thread but it fits here as well. Break the left hand in, then pronate/wind up the right forearm CCW so you can twirl/unwind it CW in the downswing. In other words the left hand palmer flexes/breaks in a little and right hand dorsal flexes/hinges in then the right forearm arm winds up.

Turn the right forearm COUNTER-clockwise going back? I can't make that make sense in my mind. Seems like an action that would keep the face really closed and potentially let the right elbow fly out in the backswing.

Just wanted to make sure I'm reading your post correctly.

How come in other videos of Mike Austin in his older years working with buddy he does the opposite of this back swing? He rotates his right forearm open and slings the club inside and never talks about any counter rotation?  Not denouncing it just curious.

What are the advantages of counter rotation with the trail elbow in the the back swing ? I never hear it taught.

The first 5 minutes gives more explanation and might clear things up.

I'm currently liking a feel that equates to starting with #1 then instantenously switching to #2, lol.  Starting with #1 is just to get the wrists to hinge back some.
