Grips for Sweaty Hands

After yet another round of my clubs spinning in my hands due to sweat, I am going to get my clubs regripped. I never used to have this problem when I used Tour Velvets, but I decided to try something new and put the CP2 Wrap grip on my clubs when I had my new irons lengthened earlier this year. I'm thinking of going to the Tour Velvet Corded grips, but am looking for other suggestions. One thing to note is that I do not where a glove, and I understand that is part of the problem - but I've been playing in these same conditions for years with the Velvets and haven't had this problem, so the grips have to be a big part of this.

Ye the CP2 Wraps are quite infamous when it comes to slipperiness in the wet.

 

As you mentioned corded grips do well usually. Otherwise I like the Golf Pride MCC (Plus4), got warm hands as well and is able to send multiple drives after each other on the
range with no tendencies to rotation/lost grip.

The only viable solution that I've found to your plight is cord grips. Plenty of options: Z Grip cord, TV full cord, MCC and MCC +4. If you don't want to go the cord route, Tour Velvet 360 have a bit more surface texture than standard Tour Velvet does.

Beyond Cord grips I’ve found Putting some anti perspiration deodorant on my wrists helps or having a towel to wipe grips quickly through the round.

I had the same issue and tried several "tacky" grips that just got slick when it was humid outside. I eventually went back to the old trusty tour velvet grip, but carry alcohol wipes in my bag. If you rub the alcohol wipes on your palms before your round it closes the pores in your palms keeping the sweat from pouring out. It has been pretty effective for me, with only the most humid of days requiring me to re-apply the alcohol. Plus it allows me to play the grip I feel so comfortable with.

I'm in sw Florida and the popular grip here are Crosslines. They'll tear up your hands if you have soft skin though. My daughter just switched to tour velvets and likes them.

Leather is best for this situation. However, make sure the installer has experience with them. Soaking them with solvent during install is a common problem.

A huge problem for me as well. Trying to reconstruct my awful swing and long range sessions in the humidity turn into frustrating shank sessions as grip starts to get slick (even with a glove and now sometimes one on each hand). As a profuse sweater it's become incredibly frustrating to swing outdoors in a decent range (with grass and not mats). Some good suggestions in here.

Best Grips MicroPerf. Little pricey but worth it. I sweat a lot in the summer while I’ve played in more humid conditions, DC area summers are no joke.

Z-Cord, if not going the leather route. My hands sweat like a bastxxx, but not once do I think about grip slippage with Z-Cords.

Another vote for the Z-Cord. No experience with leather but have heard good things too.

 

I just played in 110 degree heat for a tournament last week and Z-Grips were excellent. I've tried numerous other GP grips (including the Tour Velvet Cords) and none are as grippy as the Z-Grips. The MCCs are good too, but the bottom hand can sometimes get slippery if your hands are sweaty or if it's humid out.

There simply is no equal to leather, and for me the Gripmaster Roo grip is the way to go.

 

They actually get tackier as they get some moisture on them!

 

A little pricey to start with perhaps, but they last 4-5 times as long so they actually work out to be more cost effective in the long run.

I'm becoming a covert to leather.  My choice are the GripMaster Roo.  I've got them on my wedges, the only reason I've not regripped my irons is that I've got too many iron sets I'm playing at the moment.  Need to pick a set and get it done.

 

Nothing like leather when it gets hot and humid, or rain.
