Private club in Naples for serious golf family

Recommended Posts

We are considering relocating to the Naples area (company letting me WFH permanently) and are looking for recommendations for private clubs in the area.

The entire family (3 kids) plays - I play to a mid single digit index, and my youngest is now starting to get serious about tournament golf (the older two are already competitive juniors), so we'd be interested in clubs with great practice facilities, a challenging layout, fast greens and a membership that values solid players and good competition.  Cost shouldn't be an issue (we are coming from a HCOL area), but course access for juniors is a must and having other top juniors to play/compete with would be a huge plus.

Thanks

I have a place in Fiddlers Creek. The creek course can be joined annually for about $11000 a year. If you want a golf only club( no pool, no tennis) you can’t beat Hideout. Bonita area Twin Eagles is great. It’s not cheap to golf there. Some places like Treveso Bay are cheap but every home owner has to be a member and they use the Chelsea system so it’s tough to get out.

I may have the opportunity to work from home too and looking for a private club to join in the Naples area.  I can't help with some of the details you're looking for, but here is a link to a good resource that's helped my prioritize the clubs I'm looking into.

I'm a little late here, but I know the Naples area a bit, and there are a lot of great golf courses in the area.

I'm not personally a member, but I have played The Club at Mediterra as a guest, and it is absolutely stunning.

Also, the Director of Instruction at Mediterra is Adam Bazalgette. A world class instructor who also runs Scratch Golf Academy online. I highly recommend him as an instructor!

I would look at The Hideout. The wife and I got a place down in the area and I was looking for the same thing as you. Serious golf. The Hideout seems to be exactly that. I’ve obtained some membership info and will pass along in you shoot me a dm. I’ve not yet made the decision, but i wont be joining anywhere else.

I decided on buying a new house at Greyhawk at Golf Club of the Everglades and will be moving to Naples next summer.  It's got everything we want, ability to have a new house in a private golf community, have my own golf cart, no tee times, low max membership, good practice area, well-maintained golf course, and a nice amenity center.

Naples is unique. Crazy $$$ there most midwest people. Most of the clubs have an older membership and play short tees (6400-6500y) on pickup games.

Best clubs in Naples Florida force ranked IMO... not considering $$$... NNGC and Calusa and for those that have 125k-175k to drop on initiation I think.

  • Naples National Golf Club- Great course and better membership. Member owned. Course can stretch out to over 7k yards, best caddie program in town and many come from marquee clubs from the north for winter. Has an active woman golf program. Place is top shelf and the grounds are world class. I have never experienced tee boxes anything as nice. Great two sided (one for golfers playing and one for practice) range and short game area. The current greens run at 13+, 4 mens games a week, 5 year waiting list and very $$$. Stricker and Fuzzy are running around with their families. Guests can stay on property. All golf.
  • Calusa- Great course and probably the most challenging in the area. They spent a fortune to move dirt to create elevation changes in flat Florida. Course can stretch out too over 7,200 yards. Clubhouse is off the hook, greens run at 14+ with turtle greens that will make you want to throw you clubs in the lake after you pure an 8 iron in the wrong quadrant of the green. Heard the caddies are managed through a 3rd party so better caddies might go to NNGC. Owned my one guy and that can be good and bad. It is a "bring your own game club" more than a pick up game club. Lots and lots of guest play. Killer practice area like NNGC. Very $$$ and not sure about the waiting list. Guests can stay on property. All golf.
  • Bonita- 5 courses and great money games. Heard the greens are great and a lot of good players. But location is north from Naples.
  • Hideout- Heard they also have great money games and the course is good. IMO nothing near NNGC or Calusa. Not as $$$ as the top two and no idea about the ownership or waiting list.
  • Hole in the wall- Awesome older club, short but cool. Limited practice area compared to the above.

I am unaware of any club that has a great junior program.

Are there any public tracks worth joining in Naples? My wife and I just took the plunge to purchase a place, but it’s on 10th ave. I am kinda in a catch 22 as I am really in the middle of my career and have a 12 year old daughter back in CT as well. At most, I can see myself in the area for 8 weeks per year for the next 6 years. Long term, the Hideout is where Id like to end up but I’d like a nice place to play besides Old Corkscrew, which is a tad to far away.
