New Titleist Woods 2020/2021

DJ and Rory like 45.5, but center strike does more for distance than ANY minute amount of clubhead speed you can get from a slightly longer shaft.  I think 45" should be the max sold.  I always have them cut down and add additional weight.  The benefit is even more weight to the rear of the club which adds to the forgiveness as well.

I’ve determined I like the standard length and I just choke up because I’ve tried to go to the 43 inch like Rahm, I was hoping it would shorten my backswing a little like Rahm, but I still seem to take it back parallel or further, he doesn’t seem to have any problem with distance and finding the club face with a 43 inch shaft

Just got done with my fitting. I experienced the lower spin but also lower launch, not higher launch that I had planned on. Have been playing the TS3 9.0 with evenflow 65X for last two years. I was launching that around 12.5 with 2200-2400 rpm. With the TSi3 9.0 I was launching between 10-11 with just about every shaft option.  I was ranging from 1700-1900 rpm.

The most consistent shaft for me was the tour ADIZ 7X. We ended up taking that into the 10.0 with D4 setting, so quite a bit of extra loft. That got me up to similar numbers as TS3 of 13-14 launch and 2300-2400 spin. I think the biggest differences were sound and consistency. The sound is much better. I actually went back to TS3 for one shot midway through fitting and it was a little shock to the senses how loud it was after hitting the TSi3 for 15-20 shots. Ball speed and launch conditions were very consistent on mishits. I had a few legitimate mishits that resulted in almost exact same launch conditions as solid contact with just 3-4 mph less of ball speed. On square hits I was getting 1-2 mph more ball speed than TS3 with 1/2" shorter shaft.

Cosmetically the head looks great. It's cloudy and cold here so not very bright but the color is slightly different. I would characterize it as deeper color with less shine. Still a gloss finish but not as reflective. The alignment aid difference became an afterthought immediately. The font is much smaller than I thought it would be. I thought it looked great. I only briefly looked at the TS2 in my last fitting and the TSi2 this time around but to me the TSi2 looked like it might have been even a little more stretched out than TS2.

I pulled the trigger on TSi3 10.0 with ADIZ 7x at 45".

At 45", do you know what weight it was ordered with?  I went TS3 at 45" last year, and was recommended to go +2 on the weight.  Awsome set up by the way, congrats!

I can’t answer for the person you’re questioning but I still have some questions today I’m gonna go back in and hit my driver that they’ve got ordered for me and just a few questions why it is correct going to come in with a D8 swing weight It must be the dynamic of the new head with that shaft combination because when I start getting over D2 I really labor but if I can get over to 230 Carry and dispersion is tight then I guess I’m not gonna question it. I’ll try to take some photos of the results

I was reading a interesting article by Tom whishon, This might answer one question that I had whenever I cut the shaft down I would have the person cutting it make it the same swing way it was when it was 2 inches longer but after reading this article that might answer why it didn’t work for me even it was the right swing weight and that’s probably why the guy who fit at me which is at club Champion and supposedly they’re really good well they are this article makes sense.

the head weight feel of D2 in a club that is 45 inches with a 60-gram shaft and a 50-gram grip is not going to be the same head weight feel as D2 in a club that is 43.5 inches with an 80-gram shaft and 40-gram grip. Thus, golfers should not get locked into a particular swing weight when changing length, shaft weight, or grip weight but rather go through a new investigation into what head weight will bring about the best tempo and timing in the swing.

I’m not sure. Fitter told me that they are built at D2 but I was planning on testing the swing weight when I got it and deciding if I need to adjust. I generally like higher swing weights.

Well I had a chance to get on the track man for a few shots with the TSI3 with the speeder 659 Evo five shaft i’ve got ordered swing weight D8. Not the best numbers but then again I’m 66 and I’m only playing right now two days a week and if I do anything I chip and putt three days a week, so my short & putting game is pretty good-so if I can find the fairway more hit it a little longer I might have a chance to shoot some low scores, maybe, can’t wait to get all my clubs!

Set at 9° and the movable weight was in the neutral position in the back

Thank you I was impressed with the spin actually because I really cut across the ball even had pretty good smash factor

Good stuff!!

Ball Speed is King.  Smash Factor is more of a cool “selling point” for the salesperson.  It can be pretty inaccurate.   See this timely piece from Marty Jertson

Interesting article thank you

Yeah. I never knew that about the difference in club speed on different parts of the head.

I’ll go with that as the reason my SS dropped 5 mph this year, not me!! Ha

One thing I did check on was from whatever that website is unplugged or golf stuff myth busted something like that anyways was having your shaft of the club pured!
puring is the real deal and I am glad I had it done

How much %-wise did it tighten up the dispersion?  Did you notice less of a 2 way miss?

They’ll come in that way what they have there is not pure so if the dispersion is good without it I can only imagine once it’s done I’m looking forward to it. I just wanted to add that they put my driver on the machine that shows the difference between a pure and a stock shaft and mine was rotating all over the place then they put that same shaft on my driver head and it hardly moved in any kind of a circular motion so I’m looking forward to that.
here’s the link to that article and again it might be club Champion promoting this but these people were the ones that were trying to bust the myth and I did not.

I have no doubt these are an improvement over the ts2/ts3 but an absolutely terrible look for the Titleist fitting they published a month ago on their channel.  Leaving close to 40 yards on the table for each of them? Yikes.

I think this lesson explains where some of that distance came from

If you are a TS2 player. You might just love the TSi2. Launch spin were in the same neighborhood, but it is a few yards longer and sounds more muted. Where it absolutely shines is at address. Not as long front to back, and has a higher rounded toe, or at least the illusion, so it looks square to slightly open.

Titleist driver head weights are pretty light from my experience. Luckily, the adapter is fairly heavy which helps make with heavier swingweights. I play a 44.5" driver at D4 which is pain the you know what to achieve without some hot melt or a heavier weight option.

Both new heads can go from -4, -2, standard +2, or +4 weights.  Not sure exactly what would give you D4. Something to consider would be trying a few options, as the new drivers may have different characteristics than previous models. They went down .5 in loft. For a reason. Finding  a Titleist rep/fitter online is your best option.

For those of you that have hit Tsi drivers.....besides the obvious;  better look and feel, are you seeing any true gains over previous iteration TS2/3?

I found on average 8  yards and up to 12 yards carry and 19 to 20 overall gains in going from my TS1 to Tsi2

Did you use same shaft ?

Yep, we did put the new shaft in the current one as well, five swings with it we only got one good one to work with. But also to be fair that was at the end some 40 swings later.  So I'm sure that may have been a factor.
