TW Grind wedges arrived today...uggghhh

Recommended Posts

I was so pumped when my pro told me that my new TW Grind wedges arrived today, both the 56 and 60, and much earlier than expected.

That was the good news.  We took them out on the box and the first thing I notice is a stock DG S300 label.  Umm...the Tour Issue S400 is the standard shaft!  Also, mine had some sort of a stock TM grey non-cord grip, when the Tour Velvet Cord is stock.

We ordered these bone stock.  Obviously we are sending them back, but I cannot believe these would even ship this way!  The upcharge for the shaft and grip is basically built into the price, and there certainly was no price reduction on mine.  Absolutely baffling.

Maybe your “pro” entered them with the wrong specs. TW specs have to be selected at order entry.

That may be true for the P7•TW irons, but looking at their website, the wedges come stock with S400 and velvet cord, you'd have to go out of your way to change it.

You should probably stop buying their golf balls then ✌️

I did, lmao. Only reason I played them is because I was getting the practice version for free. But thanks for reminding me to update my sig!

This is the correct answer.

The Tiger specs need to be selected for the P7•TW irons, the TW wedges however are listed as coming stock with the S400 and Tour Velvet cord. You'd have to go out of your way and customize the TW wedges to get a different shaft and grip, unless Taylormade messed up royally on the order.

Taylor made, expect anything different? Don't know why y'all waste your money with that brand.

Yeah I had a spider x that when i went into the shop to check other ones... they all head slightly different feels and slight weight differences despite saying same weight number on the bottom. One had a grip turned soo far right it was a joke.. but the workers think they are all equal ? seeing similarities between some brands and some fast food brands. Driver seems to be the thing they get right mainly... irons seem to be wrong lofts when they arrive from tay and cal... mizuno is much better on irons in quality control.

My wedges came is perfect. Exact specs down to the SW. I love the feel and turf interaction. I think the OP went wrong by telling his rep he wanted stock and not specifying shafts. Mine have s400 TI and play great. They don't spin any more than other vokey but i like the grind. Raw face does nothing IMO. Im still a huge believer in TMAG as of late. Everything I've ordered had been spot on for over a year now. I haven't ordered a putter from them yet though.  But I have the rest of the bag.

Ordered some MG2s a while back at +1" and 3* upright. They came +1/2" and 1* flat. When I returned them the retailer said more than 50% of their custom orders with TM are wrong. Now it seems like they can't even get a stock order right. Brutal.

50% ?

Gotta say that sounds like a sloppy retailer deflecting blame to someone else.  I mean, I guess it could be a lazy rep not checking his orders, or a lazy/sloppy retail employee not ordering correctly. Or maybe they placed 2 custom orders and 1 came wrong.

But someone claiming double-digit percentage mistakes sounds to me like covering for their own mistake.  I know tons of people with TM equipment ordered over the past 4 years, and the only one that showed up wrong was because it was ordered incorrectly. And by the time the mistake was discovered 2 days later, TM had already shipped out the order . . . So they 2 day expressed the correct order.

But I guess anything is possible. ??‍♂️

Edit: And for what it’s worth, I check all my equipment for specs when I get it.  And through 3 TM drivers, 4 sets of irons, several wedges, a couple a fairways and putters . . . all my TaylorMade gear has been dead on for specs.  (And, truthfully, the same is true for Ping, Titleist, and Mizuno equipment I’ve had. It’s always been correct.) So maybe that’s why I’m skeptical of claims that any single manufacturer messes up a lot of custom orders.

I had a set of P790s from a different retailer ship at 1* upright instead of 3*. They didn't bother sending them back, just made the adjustment in house on that one. But certainly not my first experience with off spec orders from TM.

I’m still waiting on my p7TW irons to come in.  Lol.  Been a year or so now.

nah. Not entirely true.  I’m not still waiting. I canceled both orders a month after everyone else here got theirs , finally found out it was 3 iron Issues.  Yea.  Cause nobody buys a 3 iron ? Apparently most did or else no shortage would have came up.

There is one dude out there with a basement full of TW 3-irons laughing maniacally at the problems he has caused. ?
