How crowded are your courses?

Read a article that golf on average across the county is up 35%.  Some are as high as 70% increased rounds.   Just tells you NO ONE is working  ?

I'm hoping it starts to slow down a bit once kids are back to school and parents have to be more involved. My kid is back in person, and I will be puttin in some tour pro practice hours since I have a job that can be done just about anytime.

As someone currently living in FL this is my dream come true.

The lack of Canucks wintering down south may be good for you to access tee times and less crowds in general.

The businesses around you may not be so happy.

I already know of a public golf course in Maui that is shutting down infinitely till they can see more demand and I am sure hotels and restaurants will be hurting.

I just got my weekly email from the club I belong to stating that play through July is up 2000 rounds this year over 2019. They had previously informed members not to just show up expecting tee times as it's been in the past. Seems to be no relief in sight.

I'm REALLY hoping as kids go back to school and parents have to be more involved even if virtual, things will ease up a bit. My son is goin back in person, my job is flexible hours...would love a regular time to get out and play.

This year post-April has been the busiest I've seen my course in 20 years.  The tee times are typically booked from Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon every weekend.  We used to be able to play our Saturday morning round, grab lunch and few drinks, and they head back out for an emergency 9, but not this year.  And this time of  year the amount of play is increased by the high school and college golf teams practicing and playing.

I've been down from shoulder surgery so it hasn't really affected me, yet. Getting close to being able to make full swings again so I'm hoping things will get back to what was normal prior to the outbreak.

Yep, many of the courses around SOCA are stacked deep on weekends, even some weekdays are busy.  The only saving grace is many have increased the TT spread to 10-12 minutes so it's not as noticeable as it would be otherwise.  Even the better more costly courses are benefiting from the state dictating what they must do to remain open, least for the time being.

I'm wondering how golf equipment industry is doing this year?

There was some discussion on recession will hit golf equipment industry hard. As we can see, the recession has been pretty uneven.

I played yesterday with a post office employee.  He said the two items he is seeing a lot in his deliveries are........cribs and baby car seats AND golf equipment.

my course is still ramped up to 100%.  The range is packed solid no matter what time of day I go and at 2:30 the high school kids swarm the practice facilities.

Definitely busier than last season. I used to be able to walk on anytime during the week but now the tee sheet is full everyday. Weekends are impossible to get on unless you are the head pro’s buddy. My private club is offering specials on golf memberships, it is cheaper to join than to play at muni and that is contributing to the difficulties in getting a tee time. We only had 400 members when I joined 4 years ago, today we have 650. Lots of new members who are beginners slowing down the pace. I quit this club because it is too crowded to join another one 30 minutes away but with only 40 members. No issues getting early tee times on weekends or walking on whenever I want. Played close to 100 rounds already since May. The only catch is old club cost $300/mth and new club is $1300/mth. YIKES but worth every penny!

Portland, OR and our courses never closed.  Washington did for the first few months, so we had them crossing the river more than usual.  Every course is pretty packed.  Tough to get tee times.  Friends at private clubs have to be on it when the tee sheets get released.

Heard one private club was at 300% of rounds played year over year.  Believe it.  Pretty white collar club, and none of those dudes are really working these days.

The courses near me (DC metro) have been PACKED. At the beginning of this MD closed their courses, but VA stayed open. During that stretch you really had to scramble to get on a course since a lot of the options were closed. At one point I drove 1.5 hrs to play, everything closer was completely full.

Here in the northwestern side of the Triangle the courses have been very full and 4 hr rounds are the norm.  With the time change a 1PM tee-time is just about the last one you can safely book to play 18 and even then it may be pushing it.  I called 3 places yesterday (Tues AM) looking for a Friday tee-time for 4 people and the earliest available at any course was 2:30.  Great for the courses, bad for us.  The 4th I called did have a 12:00 spot so I gladly jumped on it.

With the courses being full one thing I've noticed is faster players are not being waved through because they have nowhere to go.  I haven't seen many 2 or 3 hole gaps as it's just group after group after group be it twosomes or foursomes.  I've been in both and while I would have liked to move ahead I understand the reasoning why we stay in our place.  Enjoy the time outside and enjoy the company of those you are playing with.
