Bounce for 58 deg?

So I play ap2 718 irons with 52, 56, 60 wedges.  I know that may not be the optimum wedges for my iron set, but they are what I am use to and comfortable with, at least the 52 and 56.  The 60 however, I rarely use unless I need to get one up quick.  

I won a 58 in a tourney today with a 12 bounce and would like to play it.  I don't usually take a big divot, more of a sweeper.  Should I play it or trade for less bounce?

Ten Bounce is average on 58 so 12 gives you 20% more confidence!Play it and try it.

What is the grind?  I gamed a D Grind Vokey 58 for a hot minute.  Personally I’d go no less than 8* bounce as I’m a sweeper as well.  12* is plenty playable unless you’re on super hard and dry conditions.

Nothing wrong with more bounce... try it and see how it works... I moved to more bounce this season and it’s helped my chipping.

Never liked bounce on my 58 before trying the Vokey D grind with 12 and the thing has been a godsend will never go back

I like 12 on mine, but it is also my main sand club as my next wedge is 52*.

If you're more of a sweeper then 12* of bounce will be too much.  I too am a sweeper and you need to go with less bounce/narrower soles.  Chances are you will blade that 12* more than you'd like.

What bounce does your 56 have?

what is the grind?

sole grind is probably more important than a bounce angle, which may be the actual bounce or may be an effective bounce angle. 
 

if the bounce is more forward it can be a very high angle and play low bounce, like a Ping TS grind. If the sole is wider and the bounce farther back, it will play much different.

I would experiment with it.  If you play in softer conditions you might like it, also if you use it with a square face you might like it. If you play off hard pan and sweep it it may not work as well.

There is a bigger problem than a little extra bounce if your blading wedges, sweeper or not.

My 56 is a vokey sm7 S grind with 10 bounce.  I like it, am very comfortable hitting it from 100 and in.

From trial and error, I'm convinced it's the grind that matters, not the bounce angle.  I've tried various wedges and bounces and the Callaway Jaws 56° just works for me.  Other grinds/bounces hit the ground and dig or hit the ground and bounce into the ball.  Causing chunks or blades.

Just switched from my SM6 60/10 to 58/12. Soooo much better when playing the soft fairways and fluffy lies on the east coast. My chipping has improved a ton.

Just depends on the lies you get IMO. I have a 58 with 9deg and love it for tight lies, or opened on hard/wet sand. Fluffy lies not so much. Just depends on what you’re playing out of IMO.

I think I will try to trade it in for a 10 deg bounce with the S grind (same as 56).  Next question is how much/little difference is it going to be from my 60?  I really like hitting a 3/4 56 from about 90 yds, but struggle with distance control inside of that.  Yes, I need to PRACTICE, but just don't!
