PING IRONS

I have a set of Ping G15, G20 and G25 irons and I want to give a set to my son.  I hesitate between the three sets, I play them well.  Any suggestion

Had my G25s six years, they’re a fantastic club. Just give him the G15s and then you have the most recent two left!

Keep the G25s. The 15s and 20s are nice, but a bit chunkier looking...

All three are good sets.  I still play the G25s, so I would let him choose between the other two sets.

Is he as strong as you?  If not, give him the set with the lightest shafts.

 

Of those three models, I'd say that the g20's are the most forgiving.

i just did this with my 16 yo.. These are close enough to each other that shafts will make the difference.

I agree with the posters who suggest allowing him to choose.  Golf is 90% mental.  The other 20% is all in your head.  If he has a choice and picks the set HE feels will have the most confidence in, he will play them better.  Instead of being handed a set of "hand-me-downs", you are giving him the opportunity to choose one of YOUR prized sets.  

 

Oh!  And handing a young man a set of Ping irons, promoting interest in the game, is commendable!  Thanks for promoting this great game with your son.

thank you all for your suggestions and I will keep the G25 and have my son pick one set between G15 and G20. I think he will be happy with any of his choice

Apart from the number stamped on them is there seriously any difference between those clubs? I thought the G5-G30 were identical apart from the number and a change in the colour scheme of the decals in the cavity.
