Ts2 16.5 versus ts3 16.5.

Title says it all. Unable to get both in hand right now and want to hear you guys thoughts between the two. Cheers ?

Possible a little bit of a basic way to look at it. I feel like the TS2 is a fairway club and the TS3 is a driving club. If you were someone that used a 3 wood for second shots a lot, I would lean towards the TS2. If you were someone that used a 3 wood off the tee more than anything, I would go TS3.

I haven’t gamed the 16.5; but did game TS2 15* for a year and it was fantastic off tee and fairway.  The two factors I would consider most are:

 

1) how much forgiveness do you need? (TS2 is slightly more forgiving)

 

2) how much do you need Sure Fit CG to alter your ball flight?

 

I had the 917 F2 previously and left the Sure Fit CG neutral, and I prefer a little forgiveness in my 3W since I hit it off the tee at least 4 holes at my home course.  I went with TS2 and was exceptionally pleased.  It’s hard to beat.

Yeah it will be dual purpose. Watching the flight of Adam Scott this weekend with the 16.5 was nice!!

I’ve seen the TS2 in play more often than the TS3, mainly because it’s forgiving but still long.

TS3 driver and Hibred, but TS2 "3 wood". It is very long and forgiving. Super fun club to hit

I switched from the TS2 15* to the TS3 16.5 and I love it. The head is smaller, which looks better to my eye, and the ball flight is fantastic.

No experience with the 17.5, but denied both at 15. The TS3, for me, elevated easily but gave a much flatter ball fight with lower spin. Was about 15 yards longer for me. 
 

For comparison, those results are pretty consistent with what I have gotten with the prior Titleist releases. The deep faced version (3 or FD) has always been the better performer for me because I tend to do much better with the deep face.

Is this true? Titleist site lists them at the same size for ts2 and ts3 at 175cc. Maybe the 16.5° versions are smaller than the 15° versions, but I haven’t had both in hand. If ts3 is smaller I may have to try that out as I like a smaller head as I currently play and old 913 4 wood which is only 140cc

Visually the TS3 looks smaller for sure.

I went with the TS3. It looks a little smaller than the TS2.  Coming from an older TEE CB3, which is smaller front-to-back than the TS3 yet has a taller face, I’m used to and prefer a smaller head size. I also like having the extra adjustability of the weight just to dial things in, although SW adjustments tend to do more for me than the side to side weight changes (and you can do SW adj with the TS2). Last, I also tend to hit the ball plenty high so I’m not looking for a head that launches higher. 

 

That said, you can’t go wrong with either of them at the end of the day. I have a 15* that’s .5” shorter and like being able to adjust loft to 16.5* to turn it into a 4W

I'd say check out the Callaway Mavrik SZ 16.5.  Small footprint and absolute cannon.  I tried both Titleist 16.5* and for me it wasn't even close

Awesome guys thank you. Probably gonna put the m6 in classifieds and order up a ts2 16.5. Sounds like what I’m looking for. I’ll update when finally get around to ordering ?
