7 Wood

I enjoyed your article about the 7 wood. Thirty or more years ago , I replaced my Hogan Apex 2&3 Irons with  a Callaway Steelhead 7 wood. I still have it along with a Callaway vft 7 wood.. The steelhead is a degree stronger then the vft. In my closet are a number of 3 irons. I prefer these to the 3 or 21 degree hybrids.

I hit my 3 wood and 5 wood well, so I tried to buy a 7 wood and can’t find one that comes with a stiff shaft. I looked on Golf Galaxy.

 I have the Honma

  It has a stiff shaft

 Got it at PGA store about 9 months ago

Thanks Miami.  I actually do see Honma's listed on GolfGalaxy, so I should have said that in my original post.  I just can't find any of the other brands that I normally use.

You might get an R-flex 7W and have a golfsmith tip it for you. Or, get a used 7W that meshes with your other fairways and have it reshafted. You might want a slightly heavier shaft on the 7W than the 3W and 5W.

No sign of a Ping G400 7 wood? My favourite club, it came with a Tour 75 stiff shaft, but now an Aldila Rip'd regular as I get older.

Sage advice right there! You can find an old V2 or Graffaloy Blue for next to nothing.

As someone who plays a 4 wood for the extra loft for launch and spin, would a 7 would be a good choice still? Do they make an 8 wood? lol

I have a 7-wood, as well as an 11-wood (24º). I never had much luck with hybrids.

GreAt choice!  I know Ping and Callaway make 9 woods which are gapped appropriately with the 7 wood.
