Planning on being in Chattanooga end of September-early October and of course there is no availability at Sweetens. Anyone happen to have a tee time around that time that may get cancelled? I know it's a long-shot, but thought I'd ask.

I second the recommendation of Old Toccoa Farm (just south into Georgia). I actually played it one year ago today and think it's an absolute home run. It's a spiritual cousin to Tobacco Road. Just ten

If you're there during the week you can walk on no problem. Also check out the course at Sewanee while you're there.

i'd like to second the sewanee recommendation. I found that to be much more enjoyable than sweetens

Sewanee has imposed a bubble for the entire campus which includes the golf course. Students, faculty and alumni only.

I agree you could probably get on Sweeten's if you call the week of your trip. It's quite laid back that way. You may get a shot of whisky as a welcome.

The Bear Trace at Tim's Ford would be a reasonable alternative to either. It's a nice layout and in good condition most of the time.

Many courses have recently aerated greens so it's good to ask the question before you travel.

My dad is traveling through the region this week and called them. The guy answering the phones was very nice but apologetic. Said the internet fame has absolutely blown up their business and they are currently booking out 6+ weeks in advance and totally full every day.

Ive heard Sewanee is no longer allowing tee times to anyone besides students of the university, due to COVID risk.
Old Toccoa Farm is supposed to be a good course though. If you are a member somewhere now and could get a letter from your pro, Black Creek OT Lookout Mountain would be good options.

Second this. I loved it there (Old Toccoa).

A couple of weeks ago my girlfriend and I decided on a last minute trip to Chattanooga.

I have always wanted to play Sweetens and was desperate to get on.

I knew how popular Sweetens had become and when I looked, all of the passes for the weekend I was going to be there were booked.

I called the Shed and they told me to keep checking daily.

I must have checked 10-20 times a day and I finally ended up snagging a pass last minute.

I had very high expectations going in and was not quite sure what to expect.

Once you get off the interstate you really are in the middle of no where. You drive down this winding road in the country and see nothing but trees.

Finally, I saw the Sweetens Cove sign and turned into the parking lot.

When I pulled up to the front of the parking lot I finally saw what all of the hype was about.

All you see are mountains and this large valley with a beautiful golf course.

Everyone in the shed was awesome and the vibe really was top notch.

Unfortunately it rained the three days prior to us playing and holes 3, 7, and 8 were all closed.

Despite that, the course exceeded expectations and I had an absolute blast.

The Shed is absolutely stocked and the Himalayas green was insanely awesome.

The design was so much fun and honestly a lot more scoreable than I expected.

The course was in unbelievable shape and the greens were top notch. I am already planning two trips for next year, hope to be able to play all of the holes haha.

Sweetens truly is a special place.

I would love to hear about other peoples trips there as well. I was a single and I am looking forward to going with a group.
