Not sure exactly where they were forged, so may not count... But Adams CMB's are well worth a look...

https://www.golfwrx.com/30094/adams-cmb-forged-iron-review/

I'm about to build my set up and can report back once done.

I also have:

  • OnOff Kuro's (2015 model) and completely agree with previous posters... they are sooooo good! They came with X100's and despite these not even being close to my ideal shaft I still hit them really well.
  • Bridgestone J40 DPC's which are also extremely good and worth a look if you can find any.

I am switching to Titleist 962's from the 990B's because they are more forgiving plus have a little more offset.

"Shirtsleeve" swing technique:

1. Setup: Elbows bent forearms pressed together against shaft slightly forward of center with "Hogan" "active/flexed" leg tension left foot turned out slightly and the right leg slightly farther to the right - weight mostly on balls of feet butt of left hands sits on the top of the grip with very light grip.

2. Swing - W/o disturbing weight distribution of legs and feet lower hands while doing a forward press "swing trigger" then the left upper arm takes over on the backswing, it needs to go out in front of the body then back in front of the chest as the hands trace down initially then up to over the right shoulder "Torres". The goal is to not disturb the pressure of the feet during the initial takeaway.

Notes:

1. Only swing thought after swing trigger - extend left arm at shirt sleeve when reaching left hand over right shoulder "Shirtsleeve technique".

2. The upper left arm move "Shirtsleeve technique" can be practiced independently without a club, sitting down for instance

3. The correct feet tension can be felt by doing very short hops on the balls of the feet then holding the same feeling of pressure on the front of the feet and then taking three practice swings with the grip very loose in order to not disturb the same pressure on the feet and on the 3rd swing actively do the "Shirtsleeve" move. From there the swing should be done within a matter of seconds to not lose the feel of the legs resisting, this way this is not a learned technique as much as it is a setup technique.

Onoff Kuros and the first iteration of the Tour World line from Honma, the TW717V's . I go back and forth between the two, Kuros seem to have a little more bounce and play like a better version of the J15CB's while the Honmas are more adept in dryer and firmer turf conditions. I love them both , as far as domestics go I really like the New Level 902's , only the Honmas knocked them out of the bag.

This is the JDM forum so I’ll stick to JDM.  I recently went back to Miura PP-9003 straight necks I got from Usher Golf. They’re dirt cheap right now, and even though they were considered the most forgiving Miura iron, they’re pretty much a players cb iron by modern standards.

The way the top of the toe looked at address bothered me more than I expected, otherwise I would be gaming them. Chip was really understanding and gave me a refund, real nice guy and will be buying from him again in the future.

 ok.. players  CAVITY:

PRGR:   idbl ,  tr500,  900md  . nabla tour ,

ive always been a HUGE fan of thier OLD stuff, new stuff, meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh, not for me.

TM tp 09 ,  only set of irons ive  ever looked  at for this co.

callaway  tour authentic 09 quads

yamaha  tour 2010

epon  302,   aftour cb

tourstage  701xblade

mizuno tn 93

extensively  gamed all of these , there is no order of what is best  to me , they all have thier thing.....
the  mizuno pro  is the most   player esque  of the  lot  with the toursatge / yamaha next  as they give just    a hint more  foreginess thru the offset which is  more noticeable.
the prgrs, idbl nad tr500 have virtually No offset and are wands but the idbl has a very broad  sole that is excellent for  steep attack  angles with ENDO  forging  adding to  the play.
the new epon af tour cb is just simply incredible, the look is insane. slightly thiner sole than the old 302 model  whilst the old 302 is a deep ,thick or wet grass specialist quite unmatchable  ive ever  played  AND with a decent amount of offset  to add  a hint of  forgivenees

the old toursatge  701s are  like  balde  with a hint of  of set sqaure toe  relief , the most amenable to working, whilst the quad dots are just  the best  iron   ucud ever think to play for the worst/ windiest  conds AND a sweet  soft strike  to boot.

ANY  / all     of these , id happily play over anything  esle ,   " new" ....

aftours are the only new set  id look at, these are brilliant .

I'm a huge fan of Mizunos. Their new line, the Mizuno Pro 223s are incredible cavity backs. The feel of a Mizuno on the sweet spot is something that you can't beat! It's incredible soft, yet durable. Feels so pure off the face with fast ball speed and great spin numbers. I would argue that it's the best cavity player's iron of all time.

Epon (AF 302, AF Tour) and Miura (CB 57, CB 1008) would be my starting point.

Does anyone have any problems with lie angles being too flat on any Japanese irons?

I think the default spec on most JDM irons is flat compared to the default spec on irons for US market.  Makes sense given that avg height of males in Japan (5'7") vs US (5'9"), according to 2015-2016 study by CDC.
