Srixon Z585's

Hey!

Hope you all are doing awesome!

Just ordered a set of these -

Does anyone have any feedback on these from personal use or experience? From other reviews I've seen other places they seem to be highly regarded.

How was spin control, feel, etc?

Thanks in advance for the time and info!

Playing the 585s in my 4, 5, and 6 irons, 785 from 7-pw with Modus 120S. I love this combo set.

to me, the 585s have a unique feel. 785 is just an absolute quality forging that is so smooth. the 585 has a touch of that sensation, but follows up with a rocket launcher. you can really feel the extra spring off the face. I quite like it in the long irons. Not sure that I would like it in a PW. But they are fun to hit. The sound is really nice too. And I don't have any issues with the wider sole and turf interaction.

Spin is relative. Depends on your swing and what you are comparing it to. For me, the spin would be a little too low in the scoring clubs. But is still as high or higher than alot of GI clubs would be. My 7 iron spin with the 785 is about 6400, and my 6 iron spin with the 585 is about 5100 with a Srixon Z Star XV. So there's a little bit more dropoff there than loft alone would indicate. However, the ball speed is there and height is there. I'm hitting some towering 5 and 6 irons that have no problem holding firm Arizona greens.

Man trying to find a used set of 585 or 565 with Modus 120 is tough online, always have the 105, glad to hear some are playing them with results.

I gamed them for a while with Nippon Modus 105 stiff shafts. Overall really solid.....  Forgiving and comfortable combination. Lofts are a bit stronger than traditional, distance is good, easy to get up in the air. Not the highest spin numbers for me, but I think these are designed to help players get the ball out there straight. They were straight as an arrow, I had a tendency to pull them a bit left if anything. The shafts were a little too light for me in the end, and I now game a different iron set with the Nippon Modus 120 stiff. But I hit some incredible shots with those, even long irons. Coming from an older traditional lofted set of clubs, I had to go one full club down to dial in my distances. I could tell a noticeable difference in feel coming from cast clubs to these. For a mild mild game improvement/distance iron - they were very soft/buttery feeling.

Oh, one last thing....mishits still got out there and never really got severely punished off line or too short. V sole is awesome, really helps prevent hitting fat. If you are a digger, this is nice.

You can't go wrong with these ...

Love the 585's just a great all around club. I could have easily played a full set of 785's but went for the added forgiveness of the 585 as I dont play as often as id like nowadays due to little ones. The feel mixed with the forgiveness is really hard to beat. You can hit these across the whole face and not be punished as much as other clubs. Like I said just really great all around clubs.

I played them for a year... well, a combo set. Top half of the bag was 585. Man, I miss those things... they were incredible. Great looks, feel, distance, forgiveness. Thought they were fabulous. I think the 785's were also incredible.

Great feedback, thank you!

Mine are getting their shafts put on as we speak and ready to pick up tomorrow, looking forward to getting some swings in.

I play 4-Pw in the 585’s.  Live in Iowa and my pitchmark with a 4 iron is usually 2-4 inches from the ball.  Can hit them high and have plenty of spin (maybe decent angle) to hold the green.  For me distance control is just as good as my old i25’s and s55’s.  Feel is great on a pure shots and you can get feedback from less than stellar contact.

Such great feedback and info, thanks!

Are the greens pretty soft in the Iowa area? Love to hear they are holding so well.

Thanks again for the time!

Greens are pretty soft most of the time here in Iowa.   We are in a severe drought right now and still no problem holding most greens with the longer irons.  Played them in many states in different conditions and they just flat out perform with my swing.  Love the v-sole.  Hope they work just as well for you.

I play the 585 in 4i to 7i and they're great irons. Can bomb them off the tee, the v-sole helps getting through rough and soft fairways, they're very forgiving and don't have a massive footprint like other forgiving irons. Honestly the price point they are at they are extremely hard to beat, just overlooked because it's Srixon.

Just yesterday I was at the range/golf shop testing 585’s, P770 and MP20 HMP’s against my i210’s. My Pings have DG 105 stiff. The 585 had the Modus 105 stiff. The 585’s were a better club for me in every way. I bought them. I liked the feel of the Srixon better than the others. Very forgiving and straight. They are excellent!
