Need sub $20 graphite iron suggestions.........

I am researching graphite shafts for my TA5 gunmetal irons.  Most likely higher launch, reg flex.  I would like something that has been issued in the last five years or so.  Seems to be when the technology stepped up.  I am on a budget so under $20 preferable.   If I am nuts for thinking this is out there you can tell me.

What shaft weight?   That's way more important than any other aspect or characteristic when picking a shaft.   Unfortunately not a lot of options at that price point new, especially for the heavier shafts.   So you might want to keep an eye out for a good set of pulls.

And I wouldn't worry about the age of the shaft model, especially at that price point.  Older technology doesn't really go out of date, newer shafts just allow more options to choose from.  Despite trying many newer ones, my favorite graphite iron shaft is a model that's about 15 years old.

It's certainly a real good deal if they are not too light (and they certainly don't fall under the category of 'heavier' graphite iron shafts).  But I think the OP said he was looking for reg flex, not stiff.

Was thinking in the 70. Not too light.  Thanks for the thoughts.

I suspect the TA5 are 0.355 taper, which makes it tough. Not many bargain taper graphites around.

Diamond Tour has some decent 0.370" parallel graphite iron shafts for around $15. Prolaunch. Matrix.

It's actually .370.  I got them off ebay and put FST 90s in them.  Thanks for the thoughts.   I actually found a set of taper Recoil 660 I thought about shimming.I have had good luck with Diamond Tour.  They are quality folks.  I was intrigued by this shaft.   But for the life of me can't find anything about.  Plus no tip trim info which kind of spooked me.

Just remember for single length blanks, the listed weight is for an uncut shaft.  So the cut shaft weight, especially for the shorter irons, will be much lighter than what's listed.

Thanks for you thoughts.  I will keep an open mind.  Especially considering I am playing 20 year old irons.

Had a couple sets of those way back when. What shafts are in them now?

They came with Sensicores.  I put FST's 90s in them.  Great setup.  I love them.  Would love to find the D wedge.  Not as you as young as I used to be so ready for the graphite transition.

There’s a link at the bottom to a pdf for trimming data.  For the shaft you mentioned, scroll down to chart T

That looks like an option. Graphite design and great price point.

Check golfdealsandsteals on eBay. Some great options there for you.

the maltby pro series is hard to beat IMO.

This is somewhat 2nd hand info, a friend of mine put together a set of Maltby's (DBM?) with SmacWrap Recoils. While it wasn't quite the right combo for him he decided that he wanted to stay with graphite. He tried the Maltby Pro Series and has been very happy with the results.

Let me know how this goes.  I'm leaning heavily towards this choice. You testing the Pro Series right?

I bought a STi2 6 iron with the Maltby MPF Pro series shaft in stiff to compete with my TE Forged 5 iron with Dynamic Gold R300.  I like the way the MPF shaft feels, but I personally did not see greater distance with graphite.
