Titleist TSi 2 & TSi 3 driver and 3 woods - 2020 Safeway Open

I placed a preorder on 10/21 for a TSi3 10* with Tensei AV White Raw 65 standard Grip and no alterations with DD and was informed today that I should see it maybe by Thanksgiving week. Little disappointed that it’s going to take that long with a preorder that was placed a week earlier than announced.

Anyone know the stock swingweight of the TSi2 3 wood? My guess is the the driver is D4 because it came 1/2 inch shorter at D1 with the Tensei Blue 55.. I did not specify swingweight when ordered.

Just got home from

playing some holes before it got dark. I really like this driver combo. I was a fan of the ts3 but the one I bought was a little loud. Not the case on my tsi3 it’s a muted sound but not dead. I can’t judge distance because it was windy out and I was playing a tour b xs when I normally play a pro v1 so was spinning it more than normal.
I am glad that I asked for a heavier sw with the tour ad xc i just put a smooth tempo swing on it and felt it load and was hitting nice fades

Had a fitting yesterday and got fit into the TSi3 9* with the GD Tour AD XC 6.  I also decided to go back to playing a 3 wood (had been playing a 4 wood for the past few years) and went with the TSi3 15* also with the GD Tour AD XC 7.  I hit the TSi2 3w (but not the driver) and it was crazy how much higher and more spin the TSi2 produced compared to the TSi3.  It was way too much for me and for what I am looking for out of my 3w.  I also wasn't a fan of how the TSi2 looked at address compared to the TSi3, but obviously that's just personal opinion.

It was crazy how much higher ball speed and lower spin the TSi3 gave me compared to all the other driver heads I hit.  It's everything I could want from a driver....I'm very excited to put this into play once I get it.  3-4 weeks is what I was told but given that the official season here in Colorado ends in a few days I'm not in a rush.

On a whim picked up a TSI3 3 wood. They got one X with the Tensei AV White and I couldn’t resist.

Trackman booked for tomorrow for an hour.

Curious to hear how it goes - I play the same shaft in my SIM and hit your combo last week at a Titleist Thursday event and it felt great.

It’s been my gamer shaft for 3 seasons now, so I expect it to be as expected 🙂

The only shaft that I had some success with was the Accra TZ5 combo with the G400Max which in hindsight I never should have gotten rid of, as I haven’t replicated its magic since except SIM this year.

It will be interesting to see how Justin Thomas eventually does with the new TSi3 when he gets it in the bag. I see he's still using his TS3 with the newer driver head cover, just not the driver. Guessing still some tweaking to do with the new one.

Yes, it will be interesting.   JT did have it in the bag a few weeks ago.   It took Jordan a while to upgrade to the latest and greatest.  At this level of ball striking if it ain't broke don't tinker with it.... until the off season.  The bigger surprise would be if he stays in the TS3 next year.

If you are going to try your Atmos at 45", you may want to try to use the +2 weight (if available).  As that's how it would be built by titleist -1/2" from standard.  Really love the sound of that combo, hope it works out for you!

Thanks MJ23!

I will check the Swingweight prior to checking it out, but I’m ok anywhere from D2-D4 from a testing perspective

Was D4 in the standard setting with the a Tour360 Velvet Standard Grip at 44” tip to grip exactly, and 45” playing length.

It’s a great addition to the Titleist lineup.

One thing I did notice, I was able to go

9* head and stay in about 2400 and 10 launch with 165 ball speed with a massive thumb blister because I haven’t hit a ball since the first week of October
I’d say an evolution vs. revolution

much better sound and traditional 910-esque feel.

The spin was consistent and had easy ball speed retention across the face.

TBH I’m partial to matte now after G400 Max and then F9 and then SIM, so I will likely stay down that path.

Curious to get some opinions here.  Several points of reference - 1) been playing the Atmos TS Black 7x (untipped) in my 9* SIM at 45.25", 2) ball speed off the SIM today was around 161-2mph and spin in the low 2,000rpm,  3) SS is ~112-115mph (getting faster due to super speed training).

My local PGA SS didn't have a wide selection of x-flex shafts to try - only the 60 gram version of the Smoke Black RDX and the AV White Raw.  I normally play 70 gram shafts so it took a few swings to get used to the lighter weight shafts.  I started with the 10* head (set to A-1) and was averaging around 2,600-800rpm with this combo but didn't like the feel of the RDX.  I moved on to the AV White Raw and like how it felt better but spin didn't get any lower.  Went to the 9* head and immediately saw the change lower spin to the 2,200-300rpm range.  Changed the head setting to D-1 and really liked how it opened the face angle just a bit and removed my tendency to go left.  I never got around to changing the moveable weight on the head.  After all the tinkering the ball speed was 164-165mph!

This was my first time hitting the AV White Raw 7x.  On good swings it felt like there was a bit of a kick at impact like my backup GD AD-IZ 7x shaft - sometimes it felt like the kick was causing the ball to pull left ~10 yards when I had a straighter club path & face-to-path alignment.  On the swings where I was a tad more in-to-out the kick created a nice high draw.  Poor swings with off-center contact weren't penalized like the SIM - this was the biggest ah-ha I had.

Have others experienced this? With my Atmos I don't feel a kick but rather a more stable and linear feeling at impact.  Curious to hear inputs as to whether this feeling of the kick could be altered by tipping the shaft or trying the TX.  At the end of the day this is a great head and I'd love to find a stable shaft to match it up with (given a local shop has more choices on the rack).

-Thanks, Todd

I am not fitter by any means but I’ve swung both shafts you referred to and played the atmos black tour spec 7x. With that being said the Tensei AV and atmos black are different bend profiles. AV has a softer butt than the atmos and causes more of a “kick”. From my experience the atmos definitely has a more linear bend profile. Like I said I am not a fitter but just my two cents on why you may be having that feel. I don’t think tipping would help but the TX will probably feel a little more stout but you’d probably still have that kick sensation.

I would try to track down your local Titleist rep for a demo. They will have the Atmos Black for an apples to apples comparison.  I have really liked a lot of the HZRDUS shafts, but didn’t get along with the RDX.  Your local rep will also have a few GD AD shafts to throw in the mix.
