So here it is. I'm both happy and sad. TSi3 9* head arrived last night. First thing I did after warming up was put it up against my gamer for the last few years, 2016 TI M2. The M2 has 9.8* of loft versus the TSi3 with obviously 9*. Both heads I tested with a KKDCXT 60TX tipped 0.5". The m2 plays 44.5" and the TSi3 44.75". Adding a strip of SW in a neutral position to the TSi3, the M2 is D4, TSi3 is D3.5. Long story short, ball speed was virtually identical with both....163-165 on avg, good ones 167, bad ones 160/161. Launch 11-12* and spin low 2000s. Good numbers on both. Dispersion about the same same. I'm happy because those are good numbers, and the look, sound and feel of the Titleist are excellent...frankly, as good of sound or feel as any Titleist driver in the adjustable era. I guess I'm slightly sad that despite years of fittings and owning 917 D3, M3 & M3 440, Epic Flash SZ Trip Diamond, Mavrik SZ, TS3, SIM, I haven't found anything faster/longer than this m2 and maybe nothing will ever be better, let alone much better.

I had a 2016 TI M2, the mystical 8 degree head (8.1*) in mint condition that I sold and still kick myself for it to this day. REGRATS

I do prefer the feel of this TSI3 to the carbon feel of TM drivers though.

Pretty boardy, and that’s my jam. The Trono felt smoother for comparison. In all fairness, you pick up the Trono thinking it’s going to be an absolute unhittable 4x4 post, and it’s just not. It flew a lot higher than the AXS Blu, and that’s actually why I chose it the Blu. golfshaftreviews.com has them both at the same torque. They’re beefy shafts.

For those of you that ordered a TSi3 driver with IZ-7X @ 45", what weight did you have installed in the head to maintain the D4 swingweight? Was it the +2 weight I presume?

I think that's right, but probably better answered by people on here much smarter than me. I have the 3 with the IZ 7x @ 45.5" and the +4 weight (Z Grip Cord at 50.5g fwiw), and it is D8. I think subtracting 2g takes it to D7 and then cutting a half inch takes it to D4, all else equal.

I think that’s right to, give or take 1/2 a SW point (approx)

Or the m2 could be unintentionally hot? Any way to check COR?

His was tour issue so the + stamp, it shouldn’t  be over tolerance.  So (nod to tom Wishon for the education on this) let’s say you have a CT 240 to 254 Max legal , or  Coefficient of restitution .830 , and the tsi3 was on the low end 240 vs the Max,  it translates to a couple yards, maybe.   And the reverse is possible his TI head could be lower than the TSI3 head , just swings the TMAG better.

Here lies the benefit of tour Issue , the production heads they have to have a tolerance away from the Max CT / COR or the variance during production could go over producing illegal heads, tour Issue they test and find the ones closest to the highest legal allowed CT measurement.  I remember correctly manufactures will target 240 or so ( there is a long thread on this I’m summarizing) but the head would almost have to be defective for a massive difference in speed.  240 vs 254 again a couple of yards.

to the worlds best players who get those for free sure it’s worth it.  I’ve bought those heads in the past , not so much bc it’s the hottest head, but  bc I wasn’t keen to the TMAG variance on loft and lie and wanted a 9* head not a 10* , but again a degree of loft not a huge difference.

My old back up driver is a superfast tp 2.0 lcg v3 tour Issue head , just about as long as today’s stuff to be honest when hit well.  But , It spins more and is certain not as forgiving as the new stuff.

When I first purchased it on here in early 2017, the seller told me it was 244CT. It's been used a lot, and I'm not an expert on the science, but I've heard that drivers that get more used over time, the face thins out more and can become hotter. Not sure if I have the speed for that (low to mid 160s ball speed), but I'm sure I've hit thousands of balls with it.

To this point, I also have a Japan version SLDR 430...obviously older and not tour issue like the M2, but when hit out of the middle, it's only like 1mph slower ball speed. Of course it's incredibly unforgiving and super almost unplayable spin at even 10*, but shows the differences are modest at best.

so far they are super close. I do think my sim set up spins a touch less. But we will see what happens once I have the titleist shafted up with the ventus blue.. I love that shaft.

Compare:

1. Titleist order of t100s with project x shafts...today marks 5 weeks and still no word on shipping.

2. Shaft order from Will Peoples on Sunday, had a shipping confirmation by 2:00 yesterday.  Ventus blue with Callaway left handed tip.

So Will, who is a one man shop, carries enough stock of $300 shafts and wrong-handed driver tips to fulfill an order in half of a business day, but Titleist needs more than a month (and still to be determined amount of time) to ship what is effectively a stock order of irons.

The golf industry really needs to get with the times.  We’re in an era where Amazon won’t stop until they can deliver anything you order same-day.  Even with Covid, there is just no reason for an order to take 6 weeks to your door (and that’s assuming they ship today).

But there is a good reason — it is when demand outstrips your supply chain. If Amazon ran out of everything you wanted they’d have delays too. Most of this stuff is made in China, some of it in Japan or other Asian countries.

We can’t even go eat in a restaurant but we are up in arms about orders delayed coming from Asia when demand is through the roof? Ping, one of the best customer service companies in the business, has been in the same exact boat even on stock offerings.

Maybe most of the country going into winter will slow down demand enough to allow the companies to get caught up. I also plan on buying a TSI3 but no point now with another 4+ months of no golf on the horizon. Maybe we should do an allocation like the vaccine and give it to those who need it most.

All right this guy lives in AZ move him to the top of the list and these guys from Canada well they can just wait.
