Preface

This is THE HOGAN FORUM. Ben Hogan is a legend. One of, if not "the best golfer" of all times. His life was a shining example of HONOR and PERSERVERANCE. He inspired countless golfers and people all over the world to become both a better golfer and person. And I will not let this charlatan use his good name to stroke his own ego! No way sir! Because as opposed to this fraud, I am and all of us here are "real Ben Hogan fans".

     Hey Mr.Hogan... I mean MSE. I think you're a Charlatan and a liar. Can we see a round where you record all your shots like most respected youtube golf gurus do? I can't help but feel you're not truthful about your score and abilities.

 

 

     I came across the BeBetterGolf video where you guys were playing and you clearly suck big time. Pull hooking and push slicing every shot due to your flippy release. But I thought you knew how Ben Hogan cured his hook??? Puzzling isn't it?! And also amazing how you failed to hit any fairway on a very simple course.

In contrast to the BeBetterGolf guy where he is honest about his abilities and progress. Kudos to him. His channel actually is helpful and very well put together. Just to be clear, I have no association with the BBG Channel whatsoever.

And you can clearly see that after a few holes that you're having this "Oh s***, this was a bad idea to do this video" look on your face, you sir were worried. The BBG guy just wanted to have a conversation about golf but you clearly want none of it because you have your mind occupied on how you're gonna do damage control. And don't give us that bullxxxx about "oh, I was in the middle of making a swing change so I played poorly that day" crap. This excuse is bullxxxx. I call bullxxxx for one main reason. You've already declared that you know how to swing like Hogan and has already published your e-book way before this video so there's no excuse to say that you're in the process of "making a swing change". Why make a swing change when you already claim to know the best swing of all times and it is such a great swing that you had to share it... oops, i meant SELL IT to people via your "HOGAN CODE" and clinics. I don't believe you for one second. Many golfers who are already a low handicap or a golf professional do go through swing changes but none of them played like s*** as you did on the video. So your excuse holds no water in this case!

His set-up and alignment

 

Typical flipper's aim. He's afraid of the left and pulls so he over-compensates by aiming way right. Amature hour really.

 

And No! he's not setting up to hit a draw either. As you can see from the next picture.

Red line = The direction he was aiming.

 

Blue line = The direction he actually hits it.... I mean pull it.

 

Blue circle = The ball taking off way way left...  Hogan's Code in action!

And througout the video he hits em left or push em right all day. Flip swing in full effect. Where's Hogan mechanic in all of this I wonder?

 

 

 

 

 

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about. Why does MSE like to aim right and hit left. Here's why

 

Here's a comparison of MSE and Hogan. Very different philosophy on how they go through the hitting area. Like opposite to be exact.

 

To the untrained eyes it looks similar. But here are the key check points to look at... and a damn important part of the Hogan impact dynamic as well!

 

1. While Hogan's left hand is still very visible and still flat going slightly into extension. A sign of a no roll release which result in the club traveling in a path as outlined by the green arrows. The clubface is still dead square to the swing path. That's why he's a legend. For MSE? Not so much...

 

2. MSE left hand is gone here. Look closely as his right hand is already covering his entire left hand. Why? Because of the flip rolling release typical of someone who clearly does not know "Hogan's secret". Look at the path of the club shaft and clubhead outlined by the blue arrows. It is twisting and closing rapidly with the face already pointing behind him or shut when compared to his swing path. And this is "the least" flippy shot of him. I'm trying my best to be fair here. Most of his footage will show a way more flippy release than this one. So don't say I haven't given you a fair chance MSE!

 

 

 

Still not convince? Here's another comparison

 

Take note of the inside of the right elbow position...

 

1. While Hogan's looks more skyward, MSE is already looking straight behind him due to the right arm already taken over. The triangle formed by the shoulders and arms already collapsed while Hogan's triangle is still beautifully maintained. Hogan's left hand and arm not letting the right overpower it. And also noticed that Hogan's right elbow still has a slight bent in it although he was releasing like hell. Some people might call this "never running out of right arm". While MSE has already straighten. How did Hogan do it? You might have to ask MSE. He claims to know Hogan's secret right?

 

2. And also notice Hogan's butt end of the club pointing at his navel while MSE is pointing straight behind him. Like I said, a flip release typical in most high handicappers versus a legend's release. Mind you Hogan held nothing back and smash everything with his right hand and arm but he knows something MSE doesn't.

 

3. And not to mention the obvious "Goat Molestation" going on with MSE. Notice the angle at his right hip compared to Hogan. While Hogan maintained his posture beautifully, MSE has already "stood up" as apparent by the angle between his upper body and lower body. The goat hump is synonymous with the "stall flipper" of the golf club which is MSE's swing style.

Now back to the topic. Hey MSE, if you're simply just making youtube videos recording your journey to playing better golf using Hogan's lesson, I'd say super, cause you seem like a nice enough guy and I love your enthusiasm. Also your videos are enjoyable and very well made. Your channel is like a love letter to Hogan and I think it's sweet. Hell, even you dressing up as Hogan is just plain adorable. There's no denying his style is timeless. So more power to you that you recognize this. Oh, or is it because you knew the the white cap helps people to associate yourself with Hogan better? Hmm, now I'm not so sure if it's done out of love or just shrewdness. But that's not the point. Dressing up like Hogan doesn't bother me one bit... 

 

...But what really grinds my gear is for you to be telling people you actually "KNOW" Hogan's secret and even worse to sell an e-book is like a sick joke and a blatant disrespect to Ben Hogan and all the legitimate golf instructors out there.

 

You sir, do not have any element of Ben Hogan's swing... well except for the white cap and exaggerated flat backswing. Which by the way isn't the same as Hogan mechanical wise. Oh and if anybody wants a good chuckle just look at MSE's swing from P6 to P8... my god, how can someone be so delusional to think that they know Hogan's secret when in fact they can't even master the basics of a good impact taught by all good instructor for centuries which isn't any grand secret but just good ole fundamentals. And the "Shrangrila" or "Nun-chuck" nonsense you talked about is pure garbage. You yourself can't even replicate any of the so called "Hogan secret" you talk about in your own swing. When I first saw your videos I thought it was meant to be a comedy till I realized that you're actually serious... then came the part where you sell e-books and golf clinics... Wow! Not to mention now you actually try to fix people swing or do swing analysis of actual PGA Pros. This is beyond ridiculous!

 

But I guess there's enough people with very little knowledge of the golf swing and desperate to improve to buy into the fantasy you're selling. You sir, have a typical weekend golfer's flippy swing. How in the hell do you even have the nerve to claim that you know Ben Hogan's secret and make money off of it. You should be ashamed to use his name for your own fame and profit. I bet if Hogan came back to life you'd not be able to look him in the eye and say "Mr. Hogan sir, I know your secret and have been honoring you by selling e-books and golf clinics so that your name lives on forever". Imagine what he'd say to you.

Please make a video where we see all of your golf shots for eighteen holes with another respected youtuber so we know it's authentic and see how you shoot in the 70s like you claim. Or better yet, become a real certified PGA teaching professional. I'm sure with your Hogan swing you can do that no problem. But my guess is you'd never pass the PAT.

 

 

 

 

And for all you real MSE fans out there,if there's any... For I suspect most the good comments he got on his channel are not genuine. Feel free to present your side of the argument. Let's see how you're gonna defend this snake oil salesman.

The saddest thing about MSE is this... he's been lurking and stealing other people's take on what makes Hogan's swing tick way before his infamous claims. He re-cycles the ideas by using his own "terminology" to make it seemed like it was original.

 

All his so called techniques are just "old wives tales" of Hogan techniques said by other Hogan aficionado through the years. 

 

And the saddest part is he couldn't even produce any of these moves in his real swing.

 

Does he not know that people with V1 or simply "a pause button" on their remote could easily dissect his swing to reveal that there is "none whatsoever" resemblance of any element of the Hogan impact dynamic in MSE's swing?

 

Boggles the mind really. His audacity to try to fool other golfers in which many are professionals or expert in the field. Either he's really naive or just shameless. I vote the latter. 

 

Ask yourself this folks. If MSE could really shoot in the 70s consistently like he claims (hell even in the 80s would be something LOL). He would make playing vlogs all day long. Why? Because he would want to show off his abilities so he could get more views and make more money. It's simple logic really. But why hasn't he done it? Because he simply does not possess the ability to do so!

 

 

 

 

 

P.S.

And for those of you with the "who the hell are you and let us see your golf swing" approach for a retort. Give it a rest. Why? Okay lemme give you an analogy. Let's use a simple example of a watch enthusiast calling out "a fake Rolex". Does that watch enthusiast needs to be able to "make a Rolex watch" to be able to have a fair say in calling out "a fake Rolex"? No of course not. A fake Rolex will have tons of tells on the outside and nobody can fake the real movement once the case back is removed.... the same goes for Hogan's authentic movement, but in Hogan's case his movement is more like a Patek Philippe than a Rolex which is even harder to cheaply imitate and sell as real to the enthusiast of the art...

 

So in summary........ to the majority you might be able to get away with what you're doing. Actually you already did for quite a number of years now... sadly

SwagGolf6112, I suppose that you consider your post a public service announcement. It doesn’t read that way. It’s unhinged.

 

MSE is an excellent resource for golfers. You can accept that or not. I don’t recall MSE saying anything that contradicts Leadbetter’s book on Hogan. In the video you reference, MSE didn’t play any worse than Jordan Speith, the three-time major winner, has been playing of late. Doesn’t MSE specifically acknowledge that he is not a professional? Believe it or not, 100% of golf instructors are not the world number one, but they can still provide good advice to beginning golfers based on the world number one’s golf swing.

People have ups and downs and golf is hard. Your arguments against his swing and teaching are ridiculous. The photos you choose are almost mirror images of each other. If you’re feeling really clear-headed, you should consider editing and removing this post.

He doesn't need to ?. My dog is safe. But him doing damage to unsuspecting golfers who will ingrain bad mechanics for life while paying their hard earned money to him is enough. Cheers!

What personal vendettas? You're missing the point I'm making entirely. I did say I do enjoy his content and he seems like an enthusiastic nice guy who loves Ben Hogan. But my gripe is him telling people he "knows" Ben Hogan's secret and making money off of this claim.

 

Lemme ask you this. Would you pay for your son or daughter or someone you love to go take a self defense class with someone who you know is a "fake martial artist"? And if you see people from you neighborhood getting duped by this "fake" martial artist in hopes that he can teach them how to "properly" defend themselves if the situation calls for it. You'd know they gonna get f*cked because of the inaccurate knowledge they received right? So would you in your right mind not try to warn the community so they don't get bad information that could be more damaging than helpful?

 

And another thing I'm trying to convey to everybody especially to MSE himself is also that his so called "Hogan techniques" he preaches, he himself couldn't even do it in his own swing! Hence what he teaches is bogus and doesn't work in pressure situations. Do you remember how Hogan said after he found the secret he tested it under the pressure of competition which he stated that "golf and tournament golf is very different". And it worked for him time after time, so that means whatever he found works to make him a better player. While MSE claims he found Hogan secret and already published and sold an e-book but still plays like sh*t. All his videos are heavily edited to only show his good shots or from a face on view where we'd hardly see where he actually hit the ball. And under very little amount of pressure in the BeBetterGolf video he crumbled... that is the complete opposite of Hogan.

 

And I don't hate him as a person. He seems like a loving father and a positive soul. My gripe is only with the info he's "selling". And his claims that with this knowledge he was able to shoot lower score while there is no "proof" nothing, nada, zilch of him demonstrating this to his audience that he could really do it day after day. That's why I requested for him to record his 18 hole round with another trusted golf youtuber to disprove my theory. It's not like I'm here roasting him about how he dresses like Hogan. I even said I absolutely adore him for it. But hey, we can agree to disagree as well. Cheers!

I don't buy it. Why not just make a simple 9 holes vlog letting us see all the shots. True to his style, still heavily edited leaving out so many "crucial" shots. We'll just have to "take his word" for it that he did scrambled to make all those pars.

 

Still no 18 holes vlog with another impartial party. Heck here's an idea, just call up the BeBetterGolf guy and make another 18 hole vlog. That should shut me up!

Look y'all... I know I might come off as overzealous and way over-the-top(no golf pun intended) regarding the MSE is a fraud subject. I feel you. But you gotta understand that all I ever want from MSE is to see him prove that his claims has validity. I just wanna see that the Hogan secret or Code or whatever did really help him to consistent ball striking as he claimed. And this is so easily done by just doing a 9 or 18 hole vlog just like any other golf youtubers. Which he has never done. Not even once! All his on course vlogs are heavily edited and does not reflect his claims.  For example like Mark Crossfield's, Golfholic or Kyle Birkshire where we get to see every shot he hit. But since his integrity is in question it would greatly benefit his own credentials if there's another well known or respected youtuber present. That is why I am so passionate about getting MSE to do the right thing. It would benefit not just the golfing community but to MSE himself. Trust me.

Christo I am sure spends a lot of his own time and money traveling; giving lessons, talking to golf personalities, etc  People seem to enjoy his content.  What's wrong with him making some money to cover his expenses?  I used to think seminar presenters made a lot of money doing seminars.  Found out a lot of them just break even or even lose money after paying for the hotel banquet room, their own room, air travel, taxis, food service at the event, paying staff to be there on a weekend and other expenses I'm not thinking of because I've never given a seminar.

Maybe you should reach out to some of his students or MSE attendees to see if he’s legit, and if they’ve learned anything. YouTube is full of guys like him, some you don’t even see them swing. At least Christo shows you his swing, whether or not it’s the Hogan swing is another story, but who swings like Hogan?

  As far as a 9 hole or 18 hole vlog he should do it, considering everything he’s selling and pushing.

I am not sure how I stumbled in here, but this thread is pretty insane - its got something for everyone - actually more like nothing for anyone.

 

I not a child of social media, so I am still completely lost on how any of the videos linked have followers. These golfers look pretty average, nothing wrong with that, but they also don't produce entertaining content some talking, bad swing, more talk, missed putt, shot of ugly golf course- seems pretty boring could not get though watching more than a minute. 

 

I also don't get how that guys swing looks like Hogan beyond some surface resemblance. 

 

Basically I just don't 'get' what going on here - nothing adds up. , but I am enjoying the aggression.

YouTube is full of guys like him, some you don’t even see them swing. At least Christo shows you his swing, whether or not it’s the Hogan swing is another story, but who swings like Hogan? --> Exactly! Then why did he claimed that he knew Hogan secret and sold e-books based off of this. This is his essence and all the encompasses what he does. I'm not sure if you're trolling or completely missed the point of my entire post. 

 

As far as a 9 hole or 18 hole vlog he should do it, considering everything he’s selling and pushing. --> This sir, we can wholeheartedly agree on. And I would take down this post and apologize to MSE if he came through with this. Mind you "with" another respect youtuber as witness!

But please know that I wouldn't be doing this if he didn't published and "sold" the infamous "Hogan Code". Beyond ridiculous. Don't believe me? Go buy it and see for yourself. And if you find where the merit is please come back and share with me what I might have missed in that abomination that would make me become a consistent ball striker just like Christ... ohhhh, wait! He still sucks! Never mind.

Yes sir, my initial reaction after finding out about him as well. First I thought it was a satire on someone who so into Hogan that they literally thought they could become him. Found out later that, sadly he was being serious. Not to mention his false claims and e-books sold when in fact we haven't seen him shoot the score he claims he shoots once on record. Mind blown.
