If we asked the ladies what tournament they most want to win

If we asked the ladies on the LPGA tour, what tournament do they most want to win, how would they answer? Would Asian players likely give a different answer than Americans? How about the Europeans?

 

If you asked them which tournament is the most prestigious?  Winning which tournament advances their career more?

Hands down US Open.  Most prestigious, big money, etc... .  I suspect even the Euros would agree although they will have the Open Championship a close 2nd.

Yep agree US Open.  Although I think you would get a few Euros saying The Open. Especially Brits.

I've interviewed and chatted with about a dozen pros (mostly LPGA) including Asians and non Asians ... most Asians say the US Women's Open ... many others, Europe and Australia, say the Women's British Open.   The majority lean to the US Women's Open though.

Thanks! Where would the other majors rank? Are there non-majors that are as prestigious?

Canadian Women's Open is always a big one ... of course it was a major for years, until they lost the tobacco sponsorship as the title sponsor (and the Commissioner at the time was a wee bit short sighted on that one); the other that I hear mentioned is the Shopright Classic (being in the metro New York area), the Asian events for the $$$.  The CME is a big event too ... naturally. 

 

I will tentatively be chatting with a couple of "LPGA insiders" next week ... I will ask them about this to get their insight and thoughts.  As for other majors ... I suspect that the PGA Women's Championship is a big one among the remainder of the majors ...simply because of the shared history on the men's side and the great venues.
