Help identifying these “distortions”

Young derringer here,

I was cleaning my clubs and my gamer that I’ve owned personally for 4 years has these little “dots“. I do put on Wd-40 On it but I don’t know anything about metal and these type of formations.
it is a Nike method 006, does other 303 stainless steel putter develop this?
Is this a sign of a deteriorating finish?

honestly not sure, never noticed that before. How old is the putter?

I’ve owned it for four years. But the original release was in 2012. Lol they got a shot for getting rid of this, a cream?

I believe the stainless steel bumps is oxidation. Depending on the chromium content of the stainless steel, it can rust. Hahaha but thats only a guess, ive owned stainless steel appliances and they rust occasionally.

It's tiny spots of corrosion that are happening under the 'skin' of the finish. Just keep doing what you are doing by keeping it oiled, if it's your lifetime gamer you may want to have it refinished someday.

I do appreciate this putter very much, it has a noice finish and I like that it’s a different type of “black”

Looks like pitting under the finish. It happens with chrome plating too when the metal corroding and pushing up on the finish.

There is no cure or easy fix unfortunately. It has to be stripped back and refinished.

It will get progressively worse over time, but not overly quickly. It happens when you use bleach. People use it thinking its an amazing clearer and wonder why their chrome plated fixtures in the bathroom are pitting and corroding.

Just clean your clubs with water and dry them. They don't need any surfactant like WD-40.
