Uninstalled Shaft Length in Club

Is there anywhere I can find what length an uninstalled raw shaft will play in a club head? For example if I have a 41” shaft and a M4 head how can I determine what length this shaft will play in it? There is no adapter with this club.

You'll need the BBGM measurement if you want to be sure, which for most fairway woods is going to be somewhere around 1.25", plus or minus 1/4" depending on the shape and design of the head. Unfortunately you won't know for sure unless you can find that measurement published somewhere or measure the M4 now with the shaft and then pull it and measure the raw shaft itself. In all likelihood though, a 41" shaft in an M4 fairway will play 42.25".

Easy to do if sitting at a desk or work bench. Use something that will fit in the hosel of the club like an old shaft tip, a straw, anything. Insert it to the bottom of the hosel. Make a mark on it at the top of the hosel. Now let the head sit on the ground. Place the whatever along the back of the hosel to the ground. Mark it now at the top of the hosel. The difference between those two marks is the bottom of the bore to the ground. As another poster said it will be about 1.25in. Add the difference to the length of the shaft and that is how long the club will play.
