Charleston Tee Time Golf Passbook

Recommended Posts

I visited Wild Dunes last year and was paired with a couple of local golfers.  They were playing using their passbook.  My understanding is it goes on sale in the fall and sells out quickly.

Do you have to be a resident of Charleston to purchase the passbook?  If someone from Charleston purchases a passbook may an out of state resident use it?

I get it every year.  I am pretty sure you do not have to be a resident.   I've met several people who get it and use it really for the purpose of an annual Kiawah trip - which pays for itself and more.  Each book is registered with a SN and labeled with YOUR name and address.   You have to bring the book when you play - they will not accept just the ticket , so you cant give/sell individual tickets to other people for use.  Likewise, you cannot (are not supposed to) resell your book because it is registered to your name.  However, I have only had one course ever check the book against my ID.   It is a great deal and the books sell out very quickly - within a few hours last year.  I believe at this point they open it up to current bookholders first.

Any advice on staying on to of release dates, etc? Really want to get my hands on one this year. Thanks in advance…

If you can find their website (which for some reason can be tricky at times as occasionally youll get sent to the an older year), I believe there is an email/contact list to be put on. They will typically send an email in late sept or early oct and give you the date and time it starts.

Forever Changing at this point.......

So I reached out to these guys and what a joke. They give you such bs answers on when they are going to release the books. Wont give you a time frame, date etc. Tell you they are first come first serve buy wont put you on the list for the email blast on when they are coming out. The guy told me that if I know someone that bought one in the past they will be on the list and to have them buy one for me or tell me when they go on sale....

If you know the website and when the Golf Passes go online for purchase, I would greatly appreciate any information.

Do you know the website for the golf book? Take Care!!!

From the Website, I just checked...

Update for 2022 Passbooks

Due to the unusual circumstances of 2020 and 2021, golf demand has been high and is projected to remain high for the coming year. Capacity issues have made the passbook sometimes difficult to use. Due to this high demand for golf tee times, we have considered, and are implementing, a pause for publishing the book for 2022. It is a difficult decision since our passbook has a good reputation and, for our courses, has enabled filling of unused tee times in periods of low demand. Due to the popularity of golf and projected future demand, there are currently few periods of low demand. Our course of action will be to pause for one year with a goal of doing what is best to maintain a Charleston Tee Time fundraiser in the future. We hope to offer the Charleston Tee Times Golf Passbook again next year and look forward to your participation.

Any update on passbooks for 2023? The website is still showing a pause for 2021/2022, but I know this is around the time they start to update things.

My feeling is they are probably not coming back.  Like a lot of places, getting a Tee Time around Charleston has been tough in recent years.  Kiawah seems busy year round, so I would think there isnt a lot of incentive for them....which, without Kiawah, I think its hard to make the book work.  Just my thoughts...

100%.

without the kiawah courses, it’s not really worth it. From a money stand point you still save money, but there have been plenty of years where I only played Kiawah and a few other courses that I regularly play anyhow.

sucks but I’m surprised it took until 21/22 to happen. Kiawah never seemed to be happy with us “couponers” in the first place haha. Only course that was regularly nice and welcoming was cougar. The others it was hit or miss.

Forever Changing at this point.......

With the golf boom kiawah has changed a lot of stuff that made it "affordable" in the offseason as well.  No more golf or gourmet package, no general weekend packages, making a lot of the restaurants harder to get into.  It's still a great place to visit I just miss the old days.  That can really be said for everywhere though pre golf boom.
