Nice. Guessing that might’ve been possibly what Steele was playing this week ?‍♂️?

Good eye and good guess, but it looks like he was playing one of the "W Labs" protos this week (has an adjustable hosel too).

Some of the graphics appear to be similar to the D9 posted above though...maybe Steele's is a preview of the LS/Tour/better players version in the new range?

Thanks. Could be, looks like it had tape on bottom trying to keepit under wraps ?,no telling. I’m excited bout the new upcoming products to see what W/S brings to the table.

Wilson has previously preferred to separate its lines pretty strongly. They currently have the LaunchPad, D7, and Cortex, and are generally on 2 year cycles. The D7 and Cortex are up for replacement this year.

I expect the w|labs proto to become a skill player's cortex replacement (probably under the "staff" name after the F-C-D seems to have died) and the D9 shown above to replace the D7.

It's too bad; I own both the D and C300's and would have preferred to have seen them tweaked and improved. Excited about the possibility of a tour style driver though.

I don't think a brand has ever needed a winning driver more than Wilson. The irons seem to work but Drivers seem to drive (pun intended) this business.

Unless you're Mizuno. But I agree. Wilson has had solid drivers but nothing amazing, and as an up-and-comer in that market, unless they have a knock-your-socks-off release people will just buy SIMs and Mavriks.

Wilson irons are fantastic though, I just switched to a set and have been playing loads better.

Good call out on Mizuno but there is still a difference because some golfers view Wilson as a big box brand. They probably wish they were when the reality is you can find Cally all day at Costco. At the bare minimum W/S has to have their tour pros playing their driver. If they play Mavriks, SIM's and Ping why wont the 20 handicap guy.

Yes will it be replaced??

I don't know for certain but if Wilson does what I expect them to do, the basic D7 will be replaced first, and a forged version of that replacement club will be introduced later.

Since the D7 forged came out only last January, I would not expect them to replace it so quickly. I expect a D9 wood and GI set, tour style driver/woods (cortex replacement) and a FG Tour V6 replacement (as they are 4 years old) in this cycle.

The big question is whether it comes stock with an 11 gram shaft.

I tried the D7 and it was just way too light. I sprayed that thing everywhere. Like many of the other posters, I've been a big fan of their irons (bagged C200, D100, D200 in the past) but their drivers have always been lacking.

D7 Forged just came out. They tend to be on two year cycles. D7 cast might become D9. I think the intelligent design is a reference to their Artificial Design capabilities that Wilson has and has used in other product  categories of their company.. They basically stink at marketing. I still love the brand.

No replacement for the D7 Forged irons as its relatively new in the Wilson Life Cycle.

It's also an awesome players/distance iron!

I'll be shocked if they don't come out with a hollow bodied GI iron soon. They have the Launch Pad hybrid irons, but they're more SGI forgiveness irons than distance irons.

They can fill the cavity with the urethane they use to support the "power holes" they use in their current line up. Seems like a no brainer.

The D7 forged is already a forged distance iron. I'm not sure what advantage it would be putting a hollow body iron in the line .
