P770 vs 921 Forged

bombs

Recommended Posts

Have not seen a single review comparison online of these two new irons that are seeimgly after the exact same customer.

For those that have hit both what have you seen?

Most likely to bag one of these irons in the near future.

Visually love the P770 but have a feeling the 921F has less offset, spins more, goes further and is more forgiving.

I have hit both at PGA SS on different days. No question... 921F feels WAY better, longer, and more forgiving.

But... the 921F is more in line with 790’s loft wise.

I hit the 921 Forged and the blade lengths were really long heel to toe. They do feel great and are very forgiving.

That’s always been my issue with the JPX forged irons- very long heel to toe.  They are longer than the p790 heel to toe.  The P770 are much more compact looking as well. The JPX forged definitely feel better than the 770 and are longer, because they are 2* stronger loftwise.

Not sure of the exact comparison between P770 but I did take a pic vs 919 vs 921 Forged and they really slimmed down the blade length

921 forged and the current model p790 have the exact same length 7 iron - 79.0mm.

I can't compare the rest of the set but the short irons in the 921 forged are much smaller than 919, and the longer 921 irons have also decreased in size too.

Good to know.  I always thought that the past JPX forged models short irons all looked long.

Yeah I too passed on previous JPX Forged lines due to blade length. They finally made one with an appropriate blade length. I hit the P770 when it first came out and feel was a turn off but looks were awesome. Feel is very important to me and the 921 Forged has superior feel. I am satisfied with the looks coming from Bridgestone J15cb and Srixon Z585/Z785 the 921 Forged seems a bit more compact. It seems just right

If your signature is current, the 921F should have a shorter blade length than your 0311 irons.

i agree they did slim down the length... i play the apex 19 and they are almost as compact.

just saw a vid with the TXG guys turning down the loft of the 770 and they play exactly like the 770 just with a smaller head.

I tried the 921 and i would say extremely forgiving. thing shots, heel shots toe shots all feel within 5-8 yards of center strike. Not sure about soft... as i equate that more with sound. honestly hit anything out the middle and it will feel soft lol...

p770 are just so sexy.... nice thin top line and not so clicky.... i didn't get the best distance with these but they flew high and landed soft. i actually have them in my cart now turned 2 degrees strong debating if i want to pull the trigger.

The distance I would think would be very different.  The 921F are definitely stronger lofted than the 770.  I prefer the look of the 770 but the feel of the 921F. I also prefer the distance of the 921F.

Like others have said you can't really compare these two lines. The Mizunos are more P790 ish. Especially since they look large and inviting at address.

The 921F head is definitely more compact than P790

Maybe sole wise but at address they looked pretty similar to me. Regardless, the 921F are definitely bigger than the 770's to the OP's question.

I guess we just do not agree on this.

921F has shorter blade length, thinner sole, less offset and much better looking top line, especially 8-G

Hit both on the range (7 irons) and didn't notice an appreciable distance difference between them. P770 felt better to me and looks better as well. Maybe Speed foam works? P770 is at the top of the list for my iron search going into 2021. Moving away from 718CB's as I'm looking for a little more forgiveness.

If you're a lefty, you only hit the 4 or 5i in the 921F...
