At this point, I'm honestly leaning that way. I prefer the look of them - bit slimmer profile at address, a little less offset, and I hit them virtually the same. Plus, I would only need 7 clubs to bridge the gap between 5i and the 50* club; whereas, the Mavriks require 8 clubs to cover that span. With the price difference, I could move to the Mizunos and throw a hybrid on the long end, which I am likely going to be doing anyway.

 

I'll work with the Callaway for another month or so, but as of now, I feel like a switch to the HMP is in the relatively near future.

I’d just give them a buffed finish like these. I’ve  got a set of OG XRs and they look good also but don’t have access to them currently. Just a though but I under your pain!

Yeah, I am a Callaway guy and can’t stand easily marked and scratching Callaway irons So tested Mizuno HMP and love it! My HMP irons have covers to avoid bag clatters

I am extremely late to this post, but I recently purchased the Mavrik irons and noticed the same exact thing after only 1 range session and 2 rounds of golf. I came to Google and this post was the first thing that popped up. After reading all of the posts and finding similar topics, it is very apparent that both Callaway and Taylormade put this polished "showroom" finish on some of their irons, which EASILY scratches and shows cart "club dings". I researched a little more and came up with my own solution... I took a green slightly abrasive dish pad and removed all of the "showroom" shine. With about 5 minutes of work per club, all club dings are gone and I'm left with a non-shiny finish that's ready for course action! Time will tell how this holds up but the irons now look great and I'm much more satisfied with the matte finish. Hopefully this helps someone else who freaks out after buying brand new shiny clubs! I'm new to this forum so trying to figure out how to post a few pics...
