Long shot but if anyone has a connection to get on Nanea during these Covid times as I'm sure they are wanting to at least allow the caddies the ability to work please PM.  Would love to play a round here as just moved to the area at beginning of August.

I was told they were only allowing members on the course with the a Covid restrictions.  Kind of a self imposed protection plan.

1. Work your network while living there and opportunties will happen.

2. look for charity auctions as I see Nanea several times a year listed for an auction. if you are gernerous enough you can nab a threesome or foursome depending on if the member will host.

I will be on the Big Island in March 2022. Anyone know if Nanea is allowing any sort of non-member play?

Last year I heard COVID really prevented virtually all non-member play, but I wasn't sure this was still in force.

 

I am going to start working my connections, but if it is a non-starter, no sense in chasing a parked car.

Same story here....I'll be there in Feb 2022 and would LOVE nothing more than to play this masterpiece....I'm a HUGE fan of Kidd.    It's a shot in the dark, but it would really be appreciated but a fellow golf nut.

My trip to the Big Island, is in less than two weeks.

I have a distant connection and was just told for Jan/Feb/Mar 2022, there is no unaccompanied play (due to COVID) at Nanea.

 

Unfortunately, my connection is recovering from shoulder surgery, so no one to accompany me...

Last hope is my account at Schwab is big enough to score an invitation from Chuck.

The sound of a phone not ringing....

Have a great time even if you can't play Nanea, my wife and I love Hawaii Island and have been there at least 30 times.

I have rounds at the Mauna Kea and Mauna Lani South scheduled so I will get some good golf in. 

Now that I have some level of connection at Nanea, perhaps play is possible on a future trip to the Big Island.

2022 continues with my quest to play more Top 100 courses....some PA and NJ courses already scheduled for May with all the Ireland courses in July.

All do respect those tracks are not even close to Nanea... Played them all but hate messing up my "big island" vacation with golf... Aloha my favorite place on earth... Fairmont Orchid please....

Of course they are not, but rather than pining away for a course I cannot get on, I will play what is playable (If you can't love the one you want, love the one you are with).

The only way I’ve heard of people getting on is through fundraiser auctions. 
 

I’ve been to several tournaments where a 4 some is up for auction. I think they usually go for around $1500.

Simply not going to happen.

 

Your only chance is getting job there and maybe getting out on a monday.

No clue, but its one of the most exclusive and impossible places to get on. Is someone getting you on?

The few people that we saw when we played it, were in carts. But there were no mor than a dozen people there. Including the three women having lunch in the clubhouse. So a small sample size. Nanea is on a dry hillside with zero shade. 
 

The only walkers that I’ve seen in Hawaii were at Ala Wai, Hilo, and maybe Olomana. All locals. Oh, and PGA/LPGA Tour tournament players on tv. A lot of humidity and probably lot of chafing.

A forecaddie was provided for us. And I believe two of the people that greeted us at the curb were caddies.

Nanea is one of those courses so tough to get on, if you dont have a member to ask these questions, you are not getting on.

 

Im sure there is the 1 in a billion chance to still get on......but in general you need "an in" so secure that you'd feel comfortable asking them these questions...

 

Augusta is easier to get on than Nanea, definitely wishing for some lighting in a bottle for you, you would be amongst the elite in terms of people who got the rare chance to play there.

 

I was fortunate to get on a Kukio a few years ago, its an experience Ill never forget, but Nanea is levels above that

I was fortunate to play Nanea last week and it was a fantastic experience. Obviously a DMK design. Some say it is the Bandon Dunes of Hawaii.

 

While the course in built on the side of a mountain, it did not feel hilly at all. I also played Mauna Kea, which I felt was too hilly to really enjoy.

The club was very low key and unpretentious and the course immaculate. Greens were the fastest I have ever experienced.

FWIW, I doubt Nanea is harder to get on than Augusta.
