When should I book tee times for Scotland trip next June?

Recommended Posts

I have my travel booked for June 2021 Scotland trip

when should I book tee times

I had planned to try for the old course pre booking lottery before doing the rest of the tee times. Now that it is not an option should I go ahead and book my rounds?
we will have 2 or 3 shots at the daily ballot for the old
What are the typical cancelation policies should Covid continue into mid 2021?

If you want to know cancellation policies, look at the website for the course you are booking, they are almost always spelled out in detail.  As for COVID, how could anyone know what cancellation policies will be for any course if it hypothetically continues into 2021, let alone whatever "typical" means? Unreasonable question.

I assume cancellation policies may dictate whether you want to book, so probably should check those first for each course.  If you know what courses you want to play, probably no reason to wait if you are comfortable with the cancellation policy.

We had a trip booked for June of this year.   Most courses would give a refund or allow rebooking up to two years later.  A couple such as Carnoustie would not do refunds only rebook.  We are rebooked for next year.

@flushem whereabouts are you based? Keep an eye on COVID restrictions. Each respective country in UK released updated restrictions on Tuesday for the next 6 months taking us through winter to the end of March 2021. There are varying degrees of restrictions but I'm not sure how this affects international travel, and also this is obviously subject to change over the next 6 months.

Depends what courses you want to play apart from the Old course, i go St Andrews twice a year and always play 2 or 3 courses when i'm there, i've never pre-booked a round, I've played the old course 3 times in the last 4 years and never got in trying to pre-book, just queued up.

The way the UK is at the moment i wouldn't even try and pre-book until next year

I am from Southern California, US.  Thanx for the links.  I already read it and am aware of the restrictions.  However, I booked flight, lodging and few tee times I mentioned above as I anticipate the pandemic will be gone by early November.  We shall see what will happen.

Going back to advance tee times, I recommend based upon the exchange rate alone.  right now about 4% discount from a month ago when I booked.
