Heppler long term reviews

Recommended Posts

Anyone gaming the Heppler for a while now, and can comment on how they have gotten along with it? I’m looking at a tyne3. Recently purchased a Cleveland hb soft but it’s too soft for my liking and it’s affecting distance control. Also have a spider x in rotation as well. Used to game a zb redwood and that felt perfect but was tough on short putts. Any long term thoughts would be appreciated!

I sent my ZB3 in about two weeks ago to have the fixed shaft installed and keep refreshing the return tracking info, if that helps. I've got on fantastically with it. In particular, my distance control has been tremendous.

Had the Anser 2. I had the PP59 and then the PP60. Excellent putter if you don't have to adjust anything about it, and keep the adjustable length on the longer side. Below 34", I had a lot of trouble with my stroke (I play at 33") due to swing weight.

Also, changing the lie will mess up the paint (fitter kept telling me). I'd have to send it to PING for that and to fix the weight issue. Calling them, I'd have to have the remove the adjustable shaft, and install a standard one. Since I didn't want to do any of that, I found myself changing to fit the putter.

I got rid of it.

I definitely play a shorter putter (33”, sometimes 32.75”) and planned on keeping it short. Definitely want pp60 (I like the flat front), and wouldn’t be adjusting lie angle. If I ordered the putter at 33”- ping would just pre set the length but it’s still an adjustable shaft- do you think swing weight could still be a concern?

The swing weight, not the putter's weight, was too light for me. I measured it at something like D4 at 35" but down to like B0 at 33". I was using it somewhat effectively at 33.75" where it got up to C7 but that's all I could manage. I could not feel the putter head with anything less. I truly enjoyed the putter for what I could do with it, but I needed it set to my specs and feels.

I just picked up a Heppler Fetch this past week.  First hole on Friday, drained a 35-footer from the fringe (doesn't EVERY new putter do that???).  After 3 rounds now, I definitely like it.  I like the firmer feel on longer putts (coming from Scotty and Cleveland Frontline with grooved faces); had much better distance control on lag putts.  It does have a little hotter feel on shorter putts, but I think I need to tighten up my alignment, more than a problem with the putter.

I always felt the shaft was too flexible feeling, especially with the heavier mallets.  Just a gentle waggle had the head wobbling back and forth.

This definitely does not have flexible shaft.  I had that feeling with the Cleveland, even reshafted it with KBS CT Tour putter shaft.  But this Ping Heppler Fetch does not have feel at all; it's very solid with an appreciable head weight.

My fixed shaft ZB3 arrived today and I couldn't be more excited to have it back. I know it's a silly aesthetic thing, but the putter just looks better with the fixed shaft. I don't like oversized grips, so with the stock grip and the skinnier shaft the adjustable shaft version has the appearance of an oversized grip even though it isn't. With the fixed shaft, the PP58 midsized just sits flush on the shaft as it should.

Feel-wise, I'm not sure how much of a difference I notice immediately. Maybe when I'm hitting some long putts outdoors I'll be able to tell. I am happy that I ordered the adjustable shaft and played around with it enough to figure out that 33.75 inches is perfect for me. I had usually played 33.5 or 34 inches, so it's nice to have the length dead-on.

Sweet! I had the adjustable (Fetch) and ordered the fixed length, just came in and need to pick it up. Ordered with the PP58 this go around as well. Did you get the fixed length in the black chrome?

I think I’m sending mine back to get a pixels length shaft, can’t decide on a grip. You ended up with the PP58 midsize, did you have the PP59 on there first? How do they compare?

I did it. Ordered it from golfworks. Super easy!  Put a ping pistol grip on her too.

Any reviews of the Floki or ZB model? I am primarily a blade user. My long time putter is the odyssey white ice #2. Have tried several times to replace it with other putters to no avail. Really trying to find something to help on short putts without sacrificing the feel or performance on lag putts. So I am debating between the Floki and ZB hepplers.

I own a Floki and ZB and have a white ice somewhere around here. Both Heppler models will feel more firm and possible clicky compared to the insert on the odyssey. The Floki disappointed me. Not as much toe hang as I thought it would have. Also wants to sit open when setting up to the ball. Everyone differs obviously so that is just my experience. I much prefer the ZB, although neither of them are in play at the moment. Hope that helps.
