Rickie not using the Rev33 at Winged Foot

Such a weird situation and I wonder if it has strained his relationship with Cobra at all. It must be a real kick in the head to go through that whole process only to have him not only ditch them, but back to something way older as well.

It happens though. I can tell you.  It’s frustrating. Go through the process. Get exactly what you ask for , and for some reason you just don’t hit them as wel as the irons/wedges they replace.  The smart thing to do is realize it right away and stop using them. Which is what he did. But it does suck for all involved.

exact opposite happens too. You pickup a club that is random and for some reason you cannot miss With it.  You keep that club forever.

Yup, golf is weird and our brains are weirder. But the AMP blades, when did he last have those in the bag? I would understand if he went back to what was in the bag before, but that seems like a much bigger jump.

Yea.  Only idea I can give on those is that he last felt great with those and made the jump that far back to try to recapture that feel? He’s definitely searching a bit. Even yesterday.  He seemed unhappy on every putt.  Scored ok. But definitely isn’t feeling anything good at the moment.

For all the little-kid clothing gimmicks and such, Rickie's game has always seemed more Old Guy-ish to me.

If he hadn't found that incredible lucrative marketing niche at the start of his career he could easily have been one of those khakis-and-pink-shirt-wearing journeymen Tour pros who have long careers, earn a million bucks a year, win a tournament every once in a while and are pretty much anonymous on the other weeks when they're not in contention. The guys who stick with their Mizuno blades, TM drivers, Newport putters and ProV1 balls year after year.

Brooks dumped his new Nike shoe after a month. Ricky dumped his irons after a month.

It's golf....it happens.

I'm sure the big brands will survive.

Bryson is the face of Cobra, Rickie should jump ship. If not to TaylorMade, maybe to a different OEM.

You’re right!  BAD will be the head Puma guy now for sure.  It will be interesting to see if they sign RF again once his contract is up.  You know he will want major bank and Cobra may not have the funds to ink both BAD and RF.

There is a lot more Spider variations on Tour than there is Newports. Many by non staff players! How many tournaments were won by players using Mizuno irons?? (Very nice clubs but most of their wins were from Brooks).

In the bag: Playing --- TaylorMade  Qi 10 (core) driver w/Fujikura Ventus Blue 6S. 3wd TM (OG) SIM (special smaller tour only head, same that TW was playing prior to the '24 Genesis approx 160cc) @ 15.*) with Fujikura Ventus 7-S.  5 wd TM SIM w/Fujikura Speeder 857TR-S (Japan made)

HyBrids-Cleveland Hi-Bore #1 (16* plays like 2-Iron) W/Fuji-S Tipped 1/2".  SIM Max #4 (set @ 21.5* w/ Fuji Atmos HB8 9S.  IRONS:  TM M3 4i (2*weak)w SteelFiber i95-S,  P790 3, 5-PW,  w/Fuji Pro 95i-S. SW TM MG4  54*/11 bent to 53*/10 w/ Precision Rifle 6.0-S. LW TaylorMade Hi Toe 3, 58/10 w/Modus Tour 105 Stiff. Putter-- BOBBY GRACE Night&Day-Custom, "M.Coz-Bandsaw Prototype". Ball 2022 TaylorMade Tour Response
Alternating clubs: the 5wd, TM Hybrid Stealth 2+ #2, 3Iron, depending on what part of the country, course, climate, and conditions.

I was told last season he was going across to TM in whole eventually. I wonder if this year is when it happens and his been trying to play a club similar to what he will be using at TM? Maybe the amp blades are equal to the TM offering is his head so trying to get some familiarity prior to the change?

Also if you look on Puma IG Richie is in 3 of last 12 pics. On Cobra IG he isn't in one of the last 40 pics?

Ricky going to Taylormade makes zero sense.. he would be basically 5-6th string.

1. Tiger

2. Rory or DJ

3. morikawa

5. wolff

6. Jason Day

7 Charlie Hull

8. Your local taylormade rep

9. Rickie

Very Interesting...

Last post featuring Rickie is from the Satuday at Memphis (2 months ago)

Also in regards to being 9th fiddle at TM I dont feel TM have a hierarchy system at all. They all seem to get great exposure and looked after.  Heck Rickie only currently has a ball and glove deal but his locker in the new TM truck is the top right which sits above Tigers and beside Rorys? (no not saying his on par with these guys, just stating the truck setup)

Yeah whats with brooks dumping that shoe? Never got the story.

He started playing again after the restart and sucked, so he went back to everything he wore/played when he was good - down to the shoe/clothing.

Yeah, when he sighed a ball/glove deal with TM I kind of thought he would eventually do a complete bag deal with them.  I don’t think Cobra will miss him much, we can still wear Puma apparel.

I don’t care what he plays but I would like to see cobra release the Rev33s retail.  Unfortunately, that is probably dust in the wind at this point...

Maybe for a good reason.. maybe Rickie designs irons as well as Homer Simpson designs cars. haha

I am with you on that. I would be the first person in line for these for sure. Without Ricky playing these on tour I doubt we see them. I wish though we could get a yes or no from Cobra so I can decide on some new blades.

Berger is buying old TM irons on ebay and winning millions again.  If RF hits it better with old irons good on him...seems like basic common sense to me.

Berger never had a Berger version iron made specifically for him..
