Replace 3w?

I just can’t hit my 3 wood very good and don’t hardly ever use it. Maybe the answer is just learn to hit it. 
I hit my driver about 285. 
I have a 2i (18*) driving iron I can hit about 240. 
Then I have a 4i (23*) driving iron. 
5,6,7,8,9,PW, 50*,54*,58*. 
Is there a hybrid I can get that might go further than my 2i?

Or maybe I could get a 3i driving iron. 
I would rather fill the gap between 2i and driver besides 2i and 4i.

Ditch the 3 wood and get a 4 or 5 wood to replace it.  Something in the neighborhood of 16.5°-18° with a shorter shaft than the 3 wood should be much easier to hit and still give you plenty of distance.  My 3 wood is a tee-only club, so I just now (literally like 5 minutes ago) bought a 14° SLDR Mini driver to replace it.  I carry a 19° 5 wood for any long shots off the deck as it's MUCH easier to elevate than my 3 wood.  You definitely need something to fill in that 45 yard gap between driver and 2 iron.

Silly question. If I bought an 18* 5w would it likely be that different than my 18* 2i driving iron?

Was looking at the SIM 5w and doesn’t look adjustable. 
if the same, I’ll start looking for maybe a 4w.

I don't believe in the 3 wood but some people still do.  A 4, 5, or 7 wood is a better/safer option for most...

Depends on how you want to use it. If you're talking tee shots...I suppose it depends on how well you hit the 2i. The 5W will be easier to elevate and potentially longer depending on which model you get (low spin, shaft length, etc). 

 

I was a 3 wood ho...ask around here long enough and they'll tell you stories of my endless 3 wood hoing, but I was gifted a 4w, and I cut it down to 5w length, and it's the most consistent, easy to hit club in my bag. 16.5* of loft, but high launching. I can hit a penetrating ball flight from the tee if I need to. It goes about 240. I'm sure I could get more if I really stepped on it, but 240 is plenty for me from the tee and from the deck is tryin to reach a par 5 in 2. 

 

Id go with what drummer dude suggested and look for a fairway. 2i off the deck is not something you want to mess with in my opinion. Unless you have tour speed and ball striking, you're not putting yourself in the best place to be successful. Especially if you have another driving iron in the bag already, grab a 5w around 18* or 4 at 16.5* and ditch the 2i.

Low profile 4 or 5 wood .. g400 5w at 17.5 turned down to 16.5 is awesome.. use 3w length shaft

I'm for 3wds, but it still comes down to your intended use.  Mine is 99.9% off the tee, and while still getting used to it (only had the Sim a week now), it is doing its job well.  If you rarely hit off the tee, look into a 4 or 5 wd to help elevate the ball for approaches, but can also look at a lower spin head for the odd tee shot.

16.5 fairway wood has worked out great for me.  I can flight it down off the tee very easily and I can hit hit it high from the fairway into par 5’s.  The little bit of extra loft makes it a much more versatile club than a 3W or a driving iron for me.

I agree about the 4 or 5 wood. Another (cheaper) option is putting the old 3 wood head on a 5 wood shaft.

 

It's like having a controllable 3 wood, or a strong 5 wood. YMMV.

If you can hit the 2i, you can hit the 3w. Same ball placement - same swing. You have to hit down a bit on FWs. Try it before you get rid of it.
