Putter Shafts

I’ve played the stability, lagolf l, kbs ct tour and the ust frequency filtered.

The lagolf is overpriced for what it is. It’s the most traditional looking as far as shape.  I can’t justify dropping 400 dollars on a putter shaft that didn’t outperform the 160 dollar stability.

The kbs is the best cheap option.  40 bucks on eBay in whatever finish you like.  I’m anxious to see what kbs does with their knockoff of the stability which is due out soon I believe.   I have the standard ct tour putter shaft in my Newport 2.6.

The stability is what I chose.  I have 4 of them.  One tour and 3 standard shafts.  I putted the best with these from a consistency stand point which is why I chose it.  Yes I spent time on a monitor.  I have the tour in my Byron dh89 and the standard stability’s in my studio, Newport tour rat and in my pro platinum terillium Cameron.

The Ust frequency filtered was my second best from a results standpoint.  They’re just impossible to find.

I agree with what Phabs says.  KBS makes a great shaft and Kim Braley puts a lot of thought into all of his works.  There has definitely been an up-tick in the steel putter shaft market since KBS introduced that one.  I have heard positive feedback, for sure.

With the Fujikura MC and Mitsubishi Diamana Putter Shafts, it requires a socket neck, like a plumbers type connection to work with.  Over the hosel set-ups are not feasible for graphite, due to the thickness needed to make them tip-strong enough to handle the load.

I'm a fan of the Freq. Filtered, as it was the first one to use the multi-material and stay relevant for a while.
The Stability is an excellent shaft and for guys who drop $4-500 on a driver shaft, the cost of a BST putter shaft is not a big deal.  I have found that with the BST, guys love it, or guys hate it.  Most are very quick to give feedback, after rolling a putter with this shaft.  Give one a roll, if you can, prior to purchasing.   The feel is unique and for some, just what they were looking for.

Me?  I like some feel coming back up the putter shaft and if I had my way, I'd roll old school fluted tip True Tempers in all of my personal putters.

Not going to happen, but a guy can dream, right?

Just one Mann's thoughts on it,

I tried the LAGP shaft, Fujikura, Accra, KBS, and BGT Stabilty.

LAGP - I think it is a good shaft but I didn’t really notice much difference over a standard steel shaft

Fujikura - Didn’t like it at all, didn’t see the benefit over any of the others would be at the bottom of the list for me

Accra - felt great didn’t notice a big performance difference. Think I would have had a different opinion if I got to try the different weight options. Which I think is the bright point of their putter shafts

KBS- it’s a steel shaft. Even at $40 it didn’t seem to have anything special in it. Pretty much a KBS wedge shaft (not really but close to it)

Stability Tour - hated it at first made the putter feel to light for my liking. After a couple rounds I wouldn’t have put anything else in my putters. I’ve never putt better and I’m a harsh critic of those who drink the marketing kool aid but damn it works like a charm

My vote is Stability Tour. If you get it give it a couple rounds it will be worth it

I too liked the feel of the old TT YSC and Headspeed Micro Bell (YHSF) putter shafts.... they are very hard to find now days....

I have found the TT  DG R300 8iron shaft, and C-Taper 120 wedge (for.355" applications) and 3iron shaft tipped about 2.0" (for .370" applications) to closely recreate that tip stiff , soft butt feel of the old school True Temper putter shafts...

Not for the faint of heart or novice builder...it involves very radical modifications...but I was able to put an Accra FX P300 graphite putter shaft on my Piretti Forza, over post ,#9 style flow neck, putter....and yes, I stripped the gaudy graphics off the shaft....

If you want to add swing weight, buy the standard stability.   If you want the same swing weight as steel, buy the tour.  I have 3 standards in heads that I wanted a little more weight and one tour in the putter that felt balanced with a steel shaft to me.

I agree I'm about to install a fluted shaft in my Titieist Tour Model in another thread. Looks like yours came back from BOS Golf too.

Thank you I found an unused TT Dynamic R300 8 iron looking for a ZZ Lite wedge shaft. I'll try it in a Ping Dalehead with a messed up shaft.
