Old and still relevant fairway woods

Wouldn't mind one of OP's esp. the MP.  Same for Sonartec, VR Pro Ltd, Adams, TEE CB-...  Mine isn't as old, and it's not the elusive 915Fd 5W that JT bags, but it might be my favorite club in the bag:

Is the 07 TP the one with the graphic on the crown and then the TP logo on the toe? I was just looking at those on the bay and was thinking of picking some up for fun and comparing them to my V-Steels.

Caution on RBZ fairway woods.

The original RBZ (green trim) had a stock 48-gram shaft, and was a bit too light. About every third hit turned left hard.

For original green, make sure you like the shaft. The original RBZ Tour had a heavier shaft.

image.png.d5c747f77a60113997310e613d5bb8dc.pngThe RBZ Stage 2 (gold trim) was a much better club, had a somewhat shallower head and launched better. Also the base Stage 2 (non-Tour) came with a more stable 60-gram shaft.

The RBZ State 2 3W/HL (17*) is in my backup bag.

After going on the WRX Rocketbladez trip I ordered one of these in 3 and 5 wood. I was perfectly content with my Exotics CB2's, until I hit these at the Tiburon range. I didn't really mind the white heads but the graphics kinda put me off so I sent them to Continental Golf to have them painted black. After getting them back, I have never hit a better fairway from the deck or tee. One day I was playing with Mr. Jerry Taylor (the Taylor in Taylor-Made) @ Gaylord and he told me, "you need to hit that 3WD instead of driver more-often and keep it in sight where no one else can get it."  I had it in the bag for exactly 18 months before my son talked me out of it, the 5WD, and the RocketBladez irons. But IMHO, these are the best fairways from Taylor-Made since the V-Steel and in all honesty, performed (for me) the best.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I believe the TM V-Steel is the finest fairway ever made. Looks, sits, feels, and sounds perfect.

True.  I also think that the Warbirds and original Steelheads stand the test of time.

Edit: I'm bagging GBB Hawk Eyes now and think they're even better than the two mentioned above...

I purchased a ping g20wood a few days ago off eBay for $40. Took it the dicks today to have a new grip put on it but while I was there before I had the grip put on I saw they had a demo Taylor made sim max three wood so I thought I would hit it and compare it against the G20.

I was very surprised to see that I was hitting the G20 10-yards further than the Sim Max. Just goes to show you that newer is not always better

If you come across one of these fairways give them a try: R7 TP, Cleveland Launcher Comp and Mizuno MP Titanium. The most recently released club is the Mizuno at 10 years ago with the other two around 15 years ago which helps make them inexpensive.

All 3 have titanium construction in varying degrees, and all 3 have great distance. I say this not as they have good distance for old clubs, but have distance comparable to anything you’ll find today. Every now and then you’ll find an RBZ, 2016 M2, 917 or SIM that flys as far as your driver, true, but give one of these old boys a try some time.

I owned and used all 3 and I agree with you.  Another excellent old fairway wood I used was the Bridgestone J33 18* wood.

So recently I’ve been looking for a new 3 wood, or a 4 wood. I recently sold my SIM Max because I didn’t have confidence in it and it just sat in the bag. I was at the golf dome with a couple of buddys and one of them brought a couple older three woods for me to try while I wait for warmer weather to get fit for a new one. After hitting the Ping G SF Tec 16° I think I’m going to permanently borrow that club from him. Super easy to hit and went as far as I needed it too.

Taylormade 2016 M2 Deepface. From the tee and fairway this thing is a beast!

By far the best fairway I've played. Both the 16.5 and 13degree are awesome.  Very long, incredible ball speeds off these heads. My biggest fear is its going to crack, they are getting harder and harder to find.

Some clubs have truly stood the test of time with their performance. I have had these Callaway's in the bag since the late 1990's. I firmly believe it is the Hawk Eye UL Firm Flex shafts that have made these clubs as good as they are. They perfectly match my swing speed to a tee. Over the years I have bought a few different fairway woods but have not yet found a club to match the peformance of the Hawkeye's. Two months ago I picked up some new Adams Golf Tight Lies 3 & 5 woods. We'll see how they work for me.

Adams LS.  Still using it.  As long as anything.

Just got a JDM Mizuno Metal Ti.  It looks like a cross between the MP Ti and the 650.  Looking forward to seeing how it goes.  It looks absolutely beautiful!

Back end of last season I have struggled with my Nike Vapor Fly 3 Wood so one morning while my mum and dad was out they nipped into a local charity shop (Thrift) and picked this up for me to try.

Its as you can see is a Wilson Staff Fwc 15* 3-Wood with original Nanotech graphite shaft. (With Headcover) and it has helped but I might need to take it with me to the range when I can finally get to it after the UK lockdown has been lifted and the snow has gone.

The Warbird 3W is my candidate for the best off-the-tee fairway wood of all time. I picked one up at a thrift shop 2 years ago for 5 bucks and would throw it in the bag for fun from time to time. On some swings, it was competitive with my R15 driver.

I sold it on to a guy at my course who needed it to fill out his bag from his youth, with Warbird Driver-3-5-Heaven (and a Tuttle putter). I figured he needed it more than I did.

I use Wilson Fybrid fairways from 2008. Easy to hit as you could ever want, and I could watch Padraig Harrington hit that 5w at the British on endless repeat knowing I have that model in my bag.
