Project X LZ vs Dynamic Gold 120

I wanted to see if anyone can compare these two shafts? Have anyone played these two shafts? I’m looking to adding one of these shafts to my new Mizuno JPX 921 Forged irons. Which shaft would create lower launch and spin? Thanks for your help!

I would say with all things equal the DG with launch lower but every swing is different. I am one that loves the DG feel and have settled in the new tour elevate shafts, ive never like the feel of any PX shaft although the LZ is softer than the original.

This is spot on. DG 120's do launch lower for me than the LZ but they also spin more so no bueno. I have always loved the DG feel but the performance was very subpar. I fit much better into the standard PX. The LZ gives me more of the DG feel i like but with the performance of the standard PX. Higher launch and apex while controlling spin. Very accurate and they dont kill my elbows like the standard PX does. 

 

I have found you're either a DG player or a PX player, most people dont fit into both. I do however play s400's in my wedges because I am looking for a lower launch and more spin and I seldom hit full shots with any wedge.

The two shafts are nothing alike in my opinion.

 

DG 120 launch lower and spin more as well as want to turn over left more for me. I love PX LZ and regular PX as well. I do like S400 in my wedges but otherwise DG is a spin monster for me.

I've played more than 100 rounds each with traditional DGS300 shafts and also Project X LZ 5.5 shafts.

 

1)The DGS300 are a touch more consistently accurate, which is likely do to the DG being approximately 15  grams heavier.

2)The PX LZ 5.5 is easier to load , which is fun. Standard shot height trajectory is similar.

3)The DG shaft provides more reliable punch low trajectory shots.

4) For stock shots with both, the LZ shots tend to land a bit softer than DG shots.

 

Both are great shafts. For help with consistent tempo and accuracy I suggest the DG. For a "fun to play" shaft that still provides good accuracy and distance control, get the LZ 5.5.

 

* I've also played the LZ 6.0 shaft, which I found plays comparable to a DG X100 shaft. If you usually play a stiff steel or graphite shaft I expect you will like LZ 5.5 more than 6.0. If you usually play extra stiff shafts then you might like the LZ 6.0.
