Recommended Posts

There was a thread on new Ping irons that suggested next spring or early summer. Dont remember the source and how reliable it was

supposed to release new irons at the PGA show 2021. Was supposed to be this year but releases pushed back due to Covid. My local tech rep has seen pictures of protos but nothing permanent yet. Not sure when they will be available for retail but summer sounds correct.

Just grabbed some i210s today and like stated above, they make me feel like this game can be so much easier than I have been making it.  Forget waiting on the next iteration, I was worried about missing out on the current version!

The 210s are sounding more and more like a done deal at my ping fitting next week

Notably, they did not trademark "i225". They trademarked "i59".

Just speculating, but they may be adjusting from iBlade to i59, and leaving the 210 for another year. The i525 is their player-hollow. The i59 will be a softer players' cavity-back. The 210s are that beautiful in-between. Then you have the 425 and 710s.

I can't see them ending the 210 line unless the 59s are a blended set… and that would be a shocker. iBlade is their longest running iron right now, and they want to get out of the cartridge inserts. I'm expecting a nice, pretty, milled cavity-back, and that's it.

BP / Blade

i59 / Cavity/milled

i210 / Blended (long-to-short)

i525 / Hollow players / long players iron

g425 / GI

g710 / Hollow GI

xo / SGI long iron

Also, I think it's pretty clear now that the i210 is becoming the favourite in the series in the same way the i20s did.

Resale high, long run, lots of tour success… all around fabulous irons.

After the success of the i210 on tour, especially LET and LPGA, I dont think they will change too much. Having both the iblade and i-series Is a winner for PING

What shafts did you go for and could you share any feedback on the no upcharge options which are available?

I went with DG 120. I’ve played regular dynamic gold for years. I like the slightly lighter version. They seem fine. Honestly, the only shafts I really have not liked are project x. I could play almost any shaft and be happy.

If you don't mind me asking,  what's your swing speed/7 iron distance and what flex with the DG 120 did you go for??

This is about where people start chiming in "if they made an i210 with less offset and a thinner topline..."  ?

Best all around irons out there.  I can't see how they will make the new ones significantly better.  Great feel and forgiveness.  Plenty of play on tour, including 2 guys in top 20 strokes gained approach.

You forgot "thinner sole" which is on trend these days.

If people want a traditional looking iron, PING is probably not the brand.

I love the proportions of all the irons in the set. Feel? Great. Performance? Yup. Bag chatter? Nope. Price? $125 per club....these are the best bang for the buck out there. It's actually comical how many reviews I read/saw where the reviewer said the i500 felt better because it was forged. Yeah, um no, the i500 is a faux forged iron and feels firm and clanky compared to the soft i210.

One cannot ignore the rave reviews, but the thicker sole and plastic cavity insert are holding me back. Does anyone have a comparison with the New Level 902? I have my mind set on those, but the i210 keep popping up left and right...

I am starting to care less and less about that stuff... I get it, I used to but the ease of use of the 210 makes me not care anymore...  the insert on the back is a weight I believe which Ping can use to adjust swing weights and dampen feel... or something like that.  I really think these irons deserve a look and I wish I had checked them out sooner.  I stayed away because none of the other i series wowed me but these are a serious improvement.  I will keep my blades and players CB but the i210 will most likely get the most play.

if people want thinner with less offset, ping already sells the iblade, which isnt even that much less forgiving. a lot of the reason the i210 is popular comes from the wider sole and extra offset. the flipside is the i210 is a thicker iblade with more offset in the long clubs to help launch. that hits the spot for a lot of folks.

Usually 88-90 mph. About 180 yards. I live at 5000 feet elevation though so take the distance with a grain of salt.  I play the stiff flex in the irons. I like to play a lot of off speed shots with my irons therefore I don’t like really stiff shafts in my irons.

Does anybody have real info ? The reps.are not hyping a 210 replacement ?

No reason for the rep to hype a club that is 9 months away.  They are focused on product they can sell now.

If they make an i210 Stealth version, just take my money.  I love the i210s and I would love to see a black version like the G710s come out.  Titleist and Callaway are doing it

Switched into these from JPX919 Tours earlier this summer and could not be happier.  Confident they will be in the bag for a long time, don't know how they could improve upon them.  Forgiving, playable, feel great. I personally think they look great, don't mind the progressive offset at all and truthfully haven't noticed it since the first week or two.  The sole width and bounce is only amplifies the forgiveness, at least for my delivery.  Went 5-U to start, but have the 4i on order!

I went with the project LZ which are the best feeling shafts Imhave ever had.  It seems like they launch a bit higher for me and I am a high ball hitter already, so I wish they were a bit lower trajectory, but definitely feel great.

I went from the iblades to the i210s to get about a half club extra distance. I’m a 2 handicap but just turned 50 so wanted a little more distance.  Wish there was less offset but the results are awesome.  The iblades were great but the i210s are so good.  Forgiving, true ball flight, consistent. The only change I would want is a bit less offset.  The wider sole has not been a problem at all.
