DIY Impact screen

Does anyone have any success with DIY impact screen? I use my iPad rather than a projector so my impact screen doesn’t have to look good. I have a net but anything with a ball speed over like 120 hits the wall behind and I don’t have room

to move it out.

I have had reasonably good luck with a white bedspread. The current/first attempt is with a $35 Target king-size variety hung over a net. It didn't take long for me (lefty) to open it up and stuffing is falling out, but it's holding up well on my wife's (righty) side. A heavier quilted fabric bedspread is next.

I got a cheap Ebay Net, 6'x5' - $19.99,  

Bought enough 1"PVC pipes and angles to make frame 6' x 5' vertically, the legs stick out about 1ft. - About $20 worth of piping

I then have a thick bed spread, (not a comforter) but its almost like a thick towel.  This is about 6' x 9'  I have it suspended from the ceiling in front of the Net,  - Free laying around the house.

I cleaned the place up sorry this is an older picture I could find,  But it works.

This is the old  design of the net (4' X 5'), I rebuilt the frame to FULLY stretch the net (5'x6'),  as you can see its only about 1ft away from the wall, but the weight of the suspended cloth and the net keeps it from hitting the wall.  

 

 

 

I bought an ES14 to go with a projector but the projector was too cheap and didnt work well so now its in the kids room LOL,  I have the TV in front of the Treadmill and its working great with the Apple TV projecting the ES14 data.

 

If and when the "towel/bedspread" wears out I was just going to go down to Home Depot and grab a heavy duty drop cloth to replace. ($12.99) 

 

I hit up to driver with no issue,  But mostly Irons due to space though.  I have put 100mph swings with 150mpg ballspeeds into it with zero issues.

 

 

Cheap! and works!

Just get a second net, or piece of net. I have two nets on my Rukket (had to get a second from a small hole in the first.) Kept the first around as a wear and tear layer in front of the new net, and it has drastically reduced how much distance the ball travels, probably no more than 6" now.

Go to Harbor Freight, and get enough moving blankets to cover the necessary area, $8.59 for a 72" x 80" blanket. Hang a white sheet for projection, then your net, then the moving blankets. Dechambeau couldn't get through that.

Duck canvas at JoAnn’s fabric works pretty well. I use it in front of a net. Just search for a 50% off coupon on google and it will be pretty cheap.

I tried a moving blanket from Walmart -  a half speed 7 iron shot put a hole through it immediately.      I now have it behind my net to dampen the sound, but it's still getting holes punch through it.

Surprisingly,  the thin nylon target that clips on to the net has held up well so far.     I've thought about buying some sort of heavy duty nylon (ballistic nylon) to hang up instead.

I've been using the ones from Harbor Freight behind my net and my screen for 3 years. Not a single tear or hole.

Weird -  The walmart one is swiss cheese now.    On the surface, it looks like the same blanket as the Harbor Freight ones.    Maybe the older ones were thicker/better?
