Not sure if you've had a chance to hit this yet ... but really curious how that 1K Black performs for you. I see you have DIs in your other fairways -- seems on paper like really different profiles, but I'd imagine it helps keep the 7W from launching to the moon?

Just mulling it over for now -- I'll probably want to grab a TSR2 7W but for lefties they won't be out until the spring, so I can't do any testing of my own at the moment.

I had an M4 19* hybrid, but it was a left machine.  Swapped it out for my trusty old V-Steel 7w, and while newer 7 woods would go a bit farther, the obscene confidence I have in this club is irreplaceable.  I have a 115ss, and I hit this around 225 off the deck.  Absolute off-the-deck monster.

Yes …. That’s a major reason why I play a 4-wood (16.5* / 42.5” long) and a 7-wood (21* / 41” long). My clubhead speed with the driver is between 95-98 MPH and I am at or above 90 MPH with my fairways.

This is totally true. I had a 7 wood for a while last spring/summer and wound up selling it because I hit it so high and spinny that I just couldn't control the distance in any sort of reliable way. But I've been taking lessons and am coming in with more shaft lean on longer clubs now, and decided to try a 7 wood again -- this time, with the swing improvements, it's perfect. High trajectory, but it doesn't spin up and stall out on me the way it did last year. I've hit some of my best shots this year with it. My 7W is a G425 and I also like that I can adjust the loft to play it at 19-19.5* as my third-longest or 21.5-22* as my fourth-longest club, depending on the set-up I'm going with. I prefer it at 19, because it also opens the face up very slightly, but it's great regardless.

Good points!  I didn’t play a 7-wood until a few years ago when I finally ingrained the proper way to “shallow my swing” with my fairways and hybrids. Prior to that, I hit those clubs too high and with far too much spin.

I also sometimes adjust my 7-wood from 21* to 20* loft; not so much to gain a few extra yards as to open the face angle slightly and minimize the “lefts” with the club.

I like what I am seeing so far with the 7w, 1k does seem to keep it from ballooning, looks great, nice sound and feel, will get more strikes in this week being back to stroke play.

Dumped my hybrids, put 5 iron back in, then the 7w, not changing 3/5w, love the TSi3.

I threw my 7 wood (21*) back in the bag yesterday and played a round.  I was very happy with the control that I had vs. the 22* hybrid that I replaced.  I think I'll leave the 7 wood in for a while and see how it goes.

I'm not the fastest around (160+ ball speed with driver), but I thought I'd share my experience thus far.  I am a fairly high spin, low launching player.  I put a Stealth 7W in the bag a couple of weeks ago.  It is currently replacing my Titleist 915H 2H.  The 915H has a Diamana Red Board in it.  The 7W has a 6S Made for Taylormade Ventus shaft in it.....for now 🤣

Here are some average numbers for comparison:

Loft

21 vs 18 deg

Carry

210 vs 205

Total Distance

220 vs 220

Ball Speed

140 vs 135

Spin

4000 vs 3300

Peak Height
90 vs 70

Launch Angle

12.5 Vs 11.5

Both are used off the turf and as tee clubs.  If the wind isn't blowing its 7W all the way.  My only complaint with the Stealth 7W is lack of adjust-ability and that it sits pretty closed.  The 2H is turned down and opened up.  I wish I could do this with the 7W.  It is not easy to fade the 7W, but it don't pull hook either.

I generally carry both a 7-wood (21*, set to 20* loft) AND a 22* 4-hybrid. For me, they serve different purposes and are used for different shot types.  Even though I can get 210 or even 215 yards out of the 22* hybrid, I really have to jump on it to achieve those yardages, so I prefer to play that club for 190-195 yard shots. The 7-wood is good for 200+ yards all day long from the fairway and light rough, and tops out at more than 220 yards for me. However, I won’t use the 7-wood for playing from gnarly lies in the rough, but that hybrid is great for escaping the rough, and I am generally not afraid to go for the green from as much as 185-190 yards when I am in the rough.

If I leave the 7-wood out of my bag, as I did for my recent links golf extravaganza in Northwest England and the Ayrshire Coast of Scotland, I replace it with my 18* Cleveland Halo Hy-Wood, which gives me similar yardages to the 7-wood, but is far better from the rough. That Hy-Wood came in handy several times on that trip, beginning with the first hole at Royal Liverpool (first day), and on the first par 5 at Royal Birkdale, where I reached the green in two from 205 yards out in the rough. My 7-wood would never have worked on those shots.

Good choice, and very similar to the results I get with 20* or 21* 7-wood vs. 18* hybrid (or, in my case Cleveland Hy-Wood).

I find that a good next club after the 7-wood (especially if you have it set at 20* loft as I do) is a 22* hybrid. Although there isn’t a big loft drop there, the hybrid shaft length will generally be 1.25” to 1.5” shorter than the 7-wood’s length, giving you a proper distance gap between the two clubs. A 24* or 25* hybrid will be even shorter in shaft length, and combined with the loft difference you will  almost surely have a big yardage gap.

Never had a bad time with my 7w, even completely bad daisy cutter shots would go about 170ish.. but recently changed my 22* 7w with a 24* hybrid because i changed my 18* 5w for a 19* 3 hyrbid and im thinking I will be more content with the gapping, playing a 19* - 24* than a 18*-22*. plus i played with a hybrid for the first time and had a lovely round with it.

I go 7W at 21° then 4H at 24° turned to 23.25°.  My gap is very nice with this combo.  Carry is 195 yards 4H vs 210 yards 7W.

I just moved to this. I have only played a scramble so far with this set up though. I go 4w, 7w, 23* Hybrid. The 7w seems to gap very nicely and has been quite easy to hit. I was looking for one for a while, one finally popped up with an 80g shaft. I was trying to keep my 10g weight progression.

This is my exact set up for the top of the bag! It's absolutely money! I have almost converted the top of the bag to Ventus Blue but debating if I should go Ventus blue or black for the 7 wood. Part of me is leaning towards Blue 8x but I worry about the "mid launch" profile since I already launch the 7 to the moon haha!

My set up is pretty close to that -- 4w (16.5*), 7w (21* set to 20*) and 22* hybrid, then a 25* 5-iron.

I’m a 115ish SS guy and I deloft the snot out of everything. My 18* og apex goes 3w distance off the tee but it’s just a hair too low to approach greens from 250+. 5w still launches too low so I am looking for a players 7w for the first time ever maybe with a longer shaft but that seems to be quite elusive

I’ve read through the thread. Couple questions:

any more modern adjustable 7ws out recently?

wanyone try the rad speed 7 ?
anyone try the ladies version of the stealth 7w? Any difference in specs? I notice it has the metallic sole vs the black sole of the men’s

You may want to look at this one (I replaced my horribly beat-up Callaway Epic 7-wood with one of these and I love it) -- https://www.golfsub70.com/sub-70-949x-fairway.html

It is adjustable, but not for loft (you can adjust both face angle and lie angle), and although teh stock length is 41", Sub 70 will build it to any length you want, plus the selection of shaft options is tremendous (check the "customize" drop-down menu).

I have played with the radspeed 7-wood and thought it was a very good product but not the one for me. It’s incredibly long and easy to launch. I found it promoted a higher ball flight and landed softly. I also liked the size of the club head, big enough to take advantage of the rear weight position and rails to bring the MOI back (and make it more forgiving), but small enough to be able to hit out of most lies including thicker rough.

Where I struggled with it and ultimately why I gave it to my dad is that the face always seemed to sit closed for me, even on the most open adjustability setting. As someone who naturally draws the ball, the face angle and upright nature of the Cobra brought the occasional ugly duck hook in play. If you are more of a neutral or fade/slice player, I think it’s an ideal club.

yeah I’m a huge draw guy as well, which is what makes it so hard. Stupid cobra and their smart pad, don’t they know the whole point of adjustment is to lay it open at address?

yeah I’m a huge draw guy as well, which is what makes it so hard. Stupid cobra and their smart pad, don’t they know the whole point of adjustment is to lay it open at address?

That’s another reason why you may like the Sub 70 949X 7-wood.  It is not draw-biased to begin with, and you can even adjust the face angle to open it up, and/or set the lie angle flatter.

its a beautiful club, but I clicked the link and they don't have 21* available in the drop down, is there another source to buy from?

same thing with this, which i would love to get my hands on in 21*
