Adams MB2 greatest irons of an era?

Found a near mint set by me and picked it up to try.  Have no confidence I can hit these (coming from the Bridgestone Tour B X CB) but they look amazing.

I’ve always heard such great things about those irons, but I never had a chance to hit them. I was a fan of their look when they launched, and I still am.

I picked up a set recently and coming from a set of 710mbs they are quite a bit more forgiving. One of the better feeling blades I’ve hit

I wasn't good enough to play the MB2, although I tried. I was almost good enough to play the CMB however and did for quite a while. They still get my vote for the best (feel/coolness/looks) iron I've tried.

 

I'm even less good than I used to be, although my handicap for some reason doesn't reflect it, and after a few drinks I occasionally still find myself perusing eBay listings for CMBs with a poised BIN finger.

Gosh darn it! Can we quit with the Adams memory threads? Still can't believe how they went from amazing stuff every product cycle to dead.  I may never forgive TM.  Couple years ago I went on an Adams buying binge and picked up some CMB, MB2 PVD, CC1, A12 Pro and A12 Pro Satin, A4 Tour Raw, and an unhealthy amount of tour FW and hybrids. Still need a set of CB3 Satin and another set of Pro Gold PVD or satin.

 

Ugh, off to eBay I go again.

MB2 Raw with kbs black nickel

lots of wedges including puglielli

every hybrid, super hybrid, super fairway

the adams run got me away from ping for a long stretch

all about forgiveness now

Adams was definitely special. The TaylorMade purchase was a death sentence. 
 

MB2s are an all time iron no matter how you put a list together. Just something about them, and I remember a seeing a retail raw head just so futuristic at the time. 
 

I purchased a bunch of their various small headed hybrids with the cursive Adams logo right before they were done. Last line of theirs from taylormade.

Always post my photo in any MB2 thread. Built a half set a couple of years ago and after reading this thread, will take them out tomorrow!! Just a great set of irons and forgiving enough..

Those satins are straight up gorgeous. I have the PVD but definitely prefer the satin. If they looked that clean I’d have a hard time taking them out.

Had these on the BST in December before I came to my senses!  No doubt, they are a blade, but comparatively speaking they are a slightly bigger and beefier iron than most players CBs.  At address, these are slightly "fuller" than the current Callaway Apex Pro and X-Forged CB offerings, among other clubs in the category.  I've kept these because they are perfectly matched for me as a MOI-matched build.  It's been a b*tch trying to replace them without having the benefit of buying close to spec without requiring a MOI rebuild.  So rather than go that route, I just take the next longest club out of the bag that's hurting my score, i.e. now playing these in 6-PW only. 

 

Like many, I'd love to find another tour satin set of these.

Lefty sets are rare but that seems a little steep ... Maybe make an offer on them that you feel is fair ... Depending on funds, I don’t think you’d regret trying them and reselling if not happy

I figured I may as well share it here with some folks with good taste. Finally found me a set of CB3 Satins. Excited to try the Steelfibers they came with, as well.

I never had the irons (always wanted to try them, just never did), but I think like anyone I played Adams hybrids and some woods off and on in the 2000's and 2010's. The Pro Black hybrids were some of my favorites ever. You could hit any shot you wanted to with those, including low balls. I miss Adams lol.

Looks like we keep fighting each other when these come up on the 'bay! Been wanting MB2s since they came out but I really can't say they'd be any better than the CMBs I currently play. I have a shaft coming for my 13* 1300ss and that's going right back in the bag. People think I'm nuts for all the Adams stuff I have, but they just don't know...

I think I have found some like minded folk here.  I have a set of pro MBs and recently picked up a set of CMBs and am currently waiting on a partial set of MB2s that popped up.  I did see the in wrapper set that made it's way to Ebay and just didn't have the cash to drop in it (or I for sure would have). Glad to e-meet you you all.

The 7 plugs were the real “hotness”. 
 

But, my pops still kicks my butt with his raw 5 plug version (65 years old breaking par…. Talk about daddy issues).  
 

They’re the best irons never talked about.

I regrettably sold my set I was gaming a couple years ago still. Not sure why I did that or thought I needed newer irons. Best looking in the bag and at address in my opinion.

 

Used to always get comments about "what's wrong with your irons?" because of the rust.
