SC200 accuracy on lob wedge

I recently bought an SC200 launch monitor and I've been pretty happy overall. However, when hitting my lob wedge (58 degree Cleveland CBX), it seems like the SC200 is consistently over-estimating the distance- I can typically only hit the club 65 yards or so, but I'm getting readings in the 80-85 range. I've checked to verify that the loft is set correctly. Any suggestions on anything else to try? Other clubs are pretty much spot on.

Hey @Pamlico,  So just a heads up from use with the SC100.  The Launch angle and Spin are Preset.  So they are assuming an optimal launch angle and spin per shot.

 

If you flip or have a HIGHER launch angle or a swing that produces GREATER spin the unit is NOT measuring those data points ONLY ball speed.

 

 

I have tested the SC100 with great success with clubs 7iron and down. Almost PERFECT accuracy, as the clubs get longer and distance further out the clubs gets squirrely.

 

 

So again,  If you know for a fact you tend to hit the ball higher and spin the ball greater. Than thats why the reading could be off. (What is your Average "ballspeed"?) So you can calculate your numbers

 

20y difference is quiet a lot for the unit to be measuring that far off. Again the unit is really accurate with ballspeeds.  Even the presets and your swing with a LW couldnt create a 20y discrepancy without a change in ball speeds.

 

Another simple thought?  Do you use a high spin ball as your gamer, and is the balls at your range "range balls" or older balls? So the ballspeeds could vary?

I’ve spent a lot of time on three different price point monitors the last few years....  and my portable option is similar to the SC200. Realistically, as the above poster says, spin and flip are going to send the numbers way off on a simple Doppler monitor compared to the presets BUT

 

I don’t see this as a big problem. Wind, humidity, flyer lies, etc are all going to cause variation in absolute numbers. I think, particularly for wedges, what matters are the relative numbers, ie can your monitor pick up the difference between a 28m/s and 30 m/s swing to enable you to work on ladder drills etc.

Thanks for the replies. I do struggle with flipping so that definitely could be what's going on. I will have to see if the numbers are more accurate as I hopefully improve on that swing flaw.
