What Driver Are You Playing and Why?

Callaway xr16, which is ancient compared to the average length of time people in here keep their driver. I have been thinking about getting a new driver but they are so damn expensive. I still hit this one good anyways.

Have gamed a Rogue Sub Zero 9* this year, with evenflow blue 65g X.  When I'm swinging well I can get a nice tight draw or a low cut depending on what I want.

Just moved into the subzero at 10.5 with an evenflow white after a few years with the 917d2. Spent some time on a launch monitor this summer and found out how unbelievably high my spin was with the 917. Subzero allows me to better get away with my typical miss which is low on the face.

I was walking around at my favorite Pro shop in Scottsdale,AZ and saw Cally Mavrik driver head in used clubs for sale racks and pulled it out. Behold! It’ shaft is Graphite Design AD Tour IZ 6s. I looked at the sticker cost only 350.00 so grabbed it and bought it for 300.00!  It kicked my trusty Rogue Draw with Tensei AV Blue 75 stiff out of my bag. Played golf yesterday and shot 85 at tough and long course. This driver has put me where I am closer the the hole more than in the past! I am so happy that I found a mother load driver haha. Happy Golfing ??

Ping g400 max 9* with ping tour 65s shaft.

I was playing old Epic 9* with stock hzrdus t800 55g stiff shaft before and hit bombs with ability to shape the ball pretty well. Gave it away for some reason lol!

Ping driver has been solid this season averaging 275. Been able to drive a few greens in the 300 range the last few weeks and yesterday was my longest yet at 326 for an eagle putt!

Looking forward to the 425 but I think this one is going to stay in the bag for a little while.

I'm still using a Ping G30 SFT that I got fitted for when that driver first came out, with the stock stiff shaft.

It works for me, and when it doesn't, it's because there's a big fault in my swing that day.

I doubt I will really gain much with a newer driver, MOI has been pretty much maxed out for a while now with the current design constraints, so any time and money spent would be better served on improving my swing/consistency then it would be on a new driver, IMO.

Tour Issue M3 10.9* w/ Tour Issue White Tie 60 TS

I have played Tour Issue heads for years because they come open faced.

Tinkered with my swing over the winter and flattenned it out. I now launch this high and low spin with cut or draw.

Although its fall and played the other day and had a couple hooks.

Might toss back in my faithful Tini Silver Proto 60S

My backup is a Tour Issue 2017 M2 10.7 w/ Haz Black 60s and was thinking I may hit it at the range.

Backup to the backup - Ping G 10.5 / digital 1.5* open with Diamana D+ 60x but havent given it a go in a while.

Never been fitted but always tinkered and go with course and range results. I grew up at this range so know all the spots and its easy to see and hear spin and control. Have tried every driver and with my neck issues I need light weight.

Thanks Wrx and everyone, love this site!

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.
Treat people the way you want to be treated

I play a Cleveland SL290 Launcher that came out in 2011 I believe. I 'upgraded' to a TM M2... later tried a Callaway Rogue but I always gravitate back to the SL290. I get a little more pop out of it. I think the 43 gram Miyazaki shaft has something to do with it.

I used to have the XR16... great driver. Upgraded to the M6 and I find it much more forgiving and easier to hit.

I have a face off going for my driver spot.  I’ve been gaming the Epic Flash SZ w/ HAZRDUS smoke green 6.5 72g.  This past week I got a Cobra SZ with Ventus Black 7x.  The Cally is much higher launching and I was getting tired of the sound.  The Cobra is equally long, but a much lower ball flight.  The feel and sound are also more to my liking.  If the Cally hits bombs, the Cobra launches missiles.

Was using a TM Sldr 430 and hit it well.

Now it is a TM M5 Tour.

He has driven the ball really well this year.

He tried the m2 & m3 and preferred the sldr 430. He really doesn’t like 460cc heads.

It wasn’t until he tried the M5T that he got better results than the sldr.

He tried a Callaway Mavrik too and it was pretty nice. The Evenflow Ripcord shaft

was a little loose for JP, needed a heavier 70+ version, so he’d have to get another shaft or get his Fuji a new adapter installed, all kind of a hassle and costly for no real improvement except to brag here.

I picked up a 2018 Callaway Rogue last yr from ebay with the desired Evenflow 5.5 65 gram shaft to replace my old TM R11.  Picked up around 20 yds with it. I’m 68 now and can get it out there to around 250 yds. Have not seen much difference in late model drivers.  But as most of us know,  its the not the arrow but the Injin swingin it!

KZG SP 700 because I like its 355 CC head size, easier with which to hit consistently straight shots than a 460 CC driver.

Mizuno MP Type I w/ Aldila Rogue130 MSI White in X: 3rd year of head, 1st for shaft.

A TM R510 TP that is 10% bigger. Sweet feel /sound & highly accurate, can bomb & can bunt with it.  Been tempted with a lot of offerings but this club earned an extension with the shaft change. Mizuno MP series is da bomb and will buy next one they develop.

I don't think I've replied to this topic. Trying to tell?

Srixon Z545 10.5/Kuro Kage 60 stiff, neutral upright. Wanna say 3g (lightest) swingweight. NDMC blueonblack w/2 wraps due to this girl's bigg counterbalanced butt end. (Usually 3.)

Light enough and flexible enough with enough loft. Good strong flight with a little cut at the end. 250 carry. Only playing the stiff as it seems to be a little softish, which is perfect. I'm going reg flex these days generally. At least in aftermarket shafts. This is doing the job for now.

Adams XTD Ti. Old reliable, still long, forgiving on low and high strikes, works with TM adapters for lots of shaft options, I like the look, and I have just enough control to stop from buying anything newer.
