KHT Autoflex shaft

Anyone else interested in the Autoflex shaft?

I read the GolfWRX article about it: here

And today, TXG covered it.

It's super interesting and I'd love to give it a try. The price is pretty ridiculous, but I wonder if it will come to the US anytime soon.

I wish TXG would have had a slower swinger give it a whirl.

Then again, that's always my criticism with them. Hopefully some other people can get ahold of it soon.

If I could gain 8 mph ball speed and not lose consistency I’d pay the 750.  Hopefully some US fitters will start carrying this because 750 blind is not an option.

100%. The raijin black is $500. Ventus is $350. I don’t think $750 is outrageous for a shaft the produces an extra 8 mph ball speed and 20 yard of carry. People have to Be able to test it though.

would love to see if it produces the same kind of gains with an average swing speed

I was thinking the same thing. While I love watching their videos, I don’t think too many regular golfers can relate to the speed and consistency that Matt performs at. I’d like to see how that shaft performs in the 100-110 mph Driver swing range.

I would love to see it at all the swing speed ranges. TXG promised more testing to come, hopefully it's with players other than Matt.

I hope so too. I would like to see someone in between what we see with Matt and some of the other older guys they bring in for fittings. Maybe a 30’s or 40’s guy with moderate speed just so it is something the average Joe could relate to more.

Are these available in the US as of yet? Would love to test. And if people are willing to spend $400-500 for Ventus or other high end shafts like myself, I would be a buyer for an additional $250...I switched to ventus a couple months ago and got me an extra 10-15 yards with exact same head.

I SWEAR I saw this shaft for sale somewhere (maybe Tour Spec?) but can't find it anywhere now.

It may be for the best as I'm prone to doing rash things when it comes to golf equipment, but I'm still curious where you can buy them.

Interested in finding out the answer to this, too. My guess is nowhere yet, but with TXG giving it some buzz, I'd suspect some places will be trying to get some in stock for testing soon?

I wouldn't be surprised if TXG becomes the only authorized NA distributor.  I love those guys, but at the end of the day, it's a business.  They tend to pump up and talk about companies they have deals with (as well they should).  Arccos and Accra come to mind.

I assume KHT wants to make money by selling as many shafts as possible, so I don't see how that'd be a goal of theirs to have only one NA distributor, and not even one in the US.

You could be right, but there are plenty of Asia only brands, asia only releases, limited releases (which the Autoflex is supposed to be), and the market for hard-to-get golf stuff is booming.  So who knows.

In the TXG live YT vid today, Ian said they had 30 people on list to buy one and he updated his order with the vendor to 35 shafts.  Said they will have fitting questionnaire to help them get you in the right Autoflex.

It sounds fantastic but as others have said I would love to see less capable players fitted into this shaft, particularly those with non-optimal transitions into the downswing, which is normally a disaster for soft feeling shafts.

The author of the article James has already advised via email that this shaft suits those with a smoother transition.

"One thing to note, however, is that the shaft seems to better fit those with a smoother transition on the downswing. My take is that since the shaft is whippy (hence needing the head swing weight to be lighter than heavier), those with snappy or quick transitions on the downswing have a more difficult time in timing the impact.

For example, Matt of TXG is a beast but his downswing transition is still relatively smooth and not jerky. So it gives the club head the time to stabilize and load properly for the shaft to throw all the power into the club head.

But I noticed here for some quicker tempo swingers that the head impact was more erratic. Only when they slowed the transition were they able to solidly connect with the ball. Hence, more beneficial for swinger styles and for us golfers with 90~110 mph swing speeds."

That said, I get the impression from the TXG fitting that the shaft is more controllable than a conventional low flex shaft.  Therefore, it may facilitate someone with a fast transition to smooth out a little because they can feel the shaft load and know that it is going to deliver a long ball rather than a short high spinning ball that you would normally expect.

Driving is the weakest part of my game right now so I am keen to try it.

Well one of these finally popped up on EBay.  If you want a good laugh, look at the asking price.  Hopefully not a member on here.

don't know how long of a driver he plays but it is not 46.5.  Pretty sure it's standard length
