Comparable driver shaft to 2013 Kuro Kage TiNi Proto

Hey guys, I tried the search function but it seems like since the update some of the links posted don’t work, and a lot of the posts are dated and would like some current info

 

anyways, I currently play a Mavrik Sub Zero with a 2013 Kuro Kage TiNi proto 70 S I got from a good friend of mine. It’s an awesome shaft, but with it being 7-8 years old and getting beat up, I’d like to find something current that’s very similar. If I would change anything about it, perhaps a little more stable feeling. My swing speed is around 110mph with a smooth tempo.

Great shaft that I still use.  Every time I look for something new, I end up going back to it.  I even bought a back up in case something happens to it.

The Proto TiNi 2013 went on to become the Kuro Kage XM model which should be easier to find if you want a 1:1 replacement. Otherwise it is a bit of a tweener shaft in that it is stiffer in the mid section than most "Blue" profiles but without the big tip stiffness bump. Overall a very smooth shaft profile that rides the line between "Blue" and "White" to use Mitsubishi's terminology. The closest profile match is actually the HZRDUS Red 62g, but the different material construction means it may not actually "feel" the same to you, although all things being equal it should perform much the same. Other notables are:

- Fujikura Atmos Blue Tour Spec
- Evenflow Blue
- Diamana RF

Although they all have some differences. I'd recommend tracking down a Kuro Kage XM if you can, there is nothing like the original!

Thank you guys! I did try finding an exact copy but I did not find anything. I will definitely try finding an XM, but if that doesn’t work I will try the others that you listed Valtiel!! Thank you guys again and I’ll let you know how it works out!

This was my favorite shaft ever. Unfortunately it broke and I was never able to replace it. I have a 70g in my 3 wood but couldn't find the 60 at my preferred length. I ended up with the KK XD.

in your opinion, how different is the 2013 shaft compared to the KK XD?

The XD has a significantly lower ball flight and lower spin. I don't have any numbers or anything just my own observation. I will say with the XD theres almost no way I can miss left unless it's my fault.

I own both as well, @C Bird's observation lines up with mine and with what the XD looks like on paper. Stiffer in the mid and the tip. They look like driver/fairway compliments in that sense with the XM being a little softer and easier to load.

I've thought about this a little more for no reason and I actually changed my mind. The XD is my favorite shaft ever. Proto close second.
