Remember when Jordan was going to win 12 and Rory 13?

id say 2-4 better chance of zero more then 5...

Yep, remember when Tiger was a lock for 20...25 was considered to be more likely? What a flash in the pan!

You mean so now the number on the club matters to some? To “fix” this issue we just need the manufacturers to print a big 6 on the PW?
Hogan’s famous 1 iron shot was 213 yards.  I see 200+ second shots on tour all the time so what’s the beef? 😏

Dont remember the last time I saw a 200 plus approach on a par 4. I’d be almost certain there are more approaches from less than 100 yards.

not to mention 213 with a wound ball.. what’s that in new money?

This is my guess

PGA-2

Masters-2

US Open-2

Open-0

I feel he will do this in the next 8 years and than that’s it. He may not even win another one. When gallery’s come back I think it effects him adversely while someone like Rory it will effect positively. So best case 6, worst case 1.

So between 1 and 6 then? Certainly hedging your bets..

We can get some of that information.....roughly...Looking at the number of approaches from under 100 yards and balancing that with the go for it percentage on par fives we can calculate that most pros have about one par four per round where there approach is under 100 yards. So not as many as you would probably think. They average more over 200but of course some of those are par fives.

Which raises a question. At no era was the over 200 yard par four approach really a common thing I would think. The Hogan shot we first started with this was a monumental thing. So why does it matter that many approaches today from 200+ are on par fives? Would you rather see players tested that way or watch a procession of lay up wedge par fives?

Id rather see less drive and wedge on par 4’s and more genuinely great approach shots to hit the greens on par 5’s, not mid irons. However, it’s off topic and I’ve said plenty elsewhere

Ha! I just pointed out the same shot on the “nino” thread.

The big par 5 approach is my favorite in golf on tv or when playing.

The silence and anticipation while the ball is in the air, Its the equivalent of a 50 yard TD pass

I have equal moments of silence and anticipation when I hit tee shots onto busy surface streets and major roads.

In Ireland, at this local “muni”, they had a clubhouse that was literally 100 yards up and just like 30 yards left of the 1st tee box.

So, I launch this bullet left and straight at it! I thought my ball was going to sail through a window and explode somebody’s beer 🍺😂

But, as we walk up , we see my ball sitting right there on the fairway. Either my ball bounced off the clubhouse...or somebody inside threw it back out there ; )
