The face shading on the women on their headcovers makes it look like they have facial hair, no?

I need some more Nintendo/video games/GPK covers in my life.

By the time eBay takes their cut, it’s not really a great way to make money…especially given the quantities they produce now. I’d guess some buy new drops simply to get a shot at a special to flip.

If you want to see what it’s worth to someone, go look at completed listings that didn’t involve offers.

There is a small premium that can be made on non-specials (particularly for more popular/rarer drops like anything with Skulls or anything that is an F5).

I don't think the ebay sellers are really making much though (those listings aren't actually selling the vast majority of the time). The Facebook BST groups are generally much better (no ebay fees, just paypal G&S fees (that is the policy in most groups, whether or not any direct transaction will use something without fees or not is up to buyer and seller)).

You can pretty much find new drops on there for a small markup to list price (maybe $10-$20 over list) as there are a number of people that are "special hunting" and then if they don't hit a special will just look to flip for their cost plus shipping (maybe make a few bucks at most). Sometime unpopular (or over produced) covers will actually trade to a $10-$20 discount to original price after a month or two if the secondary demand isn't there.

Wanted to see what the hype was about so I tried to get the Cleoputtra drop. Price was $125 but went up to $250 when I tried to check out. Not sure if it was a glitch or what but I wasn’t about to spend $250 on a headcover so I just dropped it.

Cool cover though.

That sounds like a glitch. People have posted about this happening before, to their official Facebook page. It usually ends up just charging the normal amount despite the webpage suggesting otherwise. Too bad that was one of your first experiences.

Swag is a joke. All they’re doing is creating a market for flippers. Any release they do they’re sold out in less than 10 seconds. Been trying for a year with no luck. I’m right on the jump every time an nothing.

How? I physically can’t move my thumbs any quicker. And have PayPal preloaded every time. Your help would be appreciated. I’m not looking to flip either. Just want some cool headcovers without paying ridiculous secondary market prices.

Apple Pay on an iPhone connected to good wifi has gotten me the best results. I scored a blade mystery box yesterday!

Apple Pay and already be logged in. Need to answer the mystery question and add to cart and click Apple pay all in under 5 seconds. I do it at will. Got the mallet mystery box yesterday and haven’t missed more than 1-2 of everything I’ve tried to get. I flip most of on it but game some of it too.

I find shoppay to work very well for me. Excited to score a blade mystery box yesterday.

I’d say I have about a 75%+ success rate lately as long as I’m ready to go (hitting f5) at the drop time.

Key is to check that your cookies and everything are ready to go by doing a “dummy” checkout (just grab an in stock grip) a few mins before drop time to make sure you don’t need to verify your shoppay account.

Apple pay and shop are way faster than paypal

I made money flipping the first two headcovers I bought from Swag this year but struggled to break even since.

I don’t even buy them anymore. Not worth the hassle of buying and hoping someone buys it on eBay/Mercari.

It’s very niche stuff. I personally love their Masters menu headcover, and will probably end up paying a small premium for it. But I also have no interest in owning a headcover with a skull wearing sunglasses.

It’s really awesome stuff if you like their aesthetic and/or have money to seriously collect headcovers.

Anyone know what the process is for getting signed up for COTM?  They put something out there on twitter to be notified but I never received anything.  I assume this is a January to December type thing so we would be seeing something soon.

Is it just like a regular drop where you pick the blade or mallet item and then pay the $1200 or whatever it is going to be for the year?

It was Jan 1 last year if I recall.

Yes you pick mallet or blade. It is 8 putter covers and 4 wood covers. I think you're guaranteed at least 1 special but may be wrong there.

It was 1555 last year, I assume it will go up.

I'm not going to renew because I have sold or planning to sell 9 of 12 this year. I liked the 2020 selection much more.

interesting. Out of curiosity though, we’re you able to sell the 9 you kept for more than $1555? How many specials did you get?

I got one special but it was literally the worst month in terms of resale value and I have zero interest in keeping it.

I sold all the ones I wanted to through July but have 3 sitting around now that I still need to post/sell.

Overall I will probably about break even. But the hassle isn’t worth it. Next year I’ll just buy the one or two I want off the secondary market

@ND2005  Thanks for the info!

Another question since I'm kind of a SWAG noob, is the $1k price for the YKYMF Handsome one/too putters they just did for Swagmas typical of how they run Swagmus and we should expect more outrageous priced things the next 11 of days?  I mean the regular models were $555 so seeing that kind of mark-up for a different milling pattern is kind of a big FU to everyone.  And before anyone complains, I know I don't have to buy it if I don't like the price and they sold out in 30 seconds so maybe I'm in the minority but that just seems crazy to me. At that point they are really just a "collectible" and not something that anyone would seriously buy to use on the course.  Kind of like the $5555 on the Ryder cup set was just a pure cash grab "because we can". With that kind of pricing, it's just too expensive to risk damaging it or getting it stolen to actually use it, which IMO, hurts the brand as the desirability of the items will go down as the price goes up.  When you're doing $120 covers it's open to a lot more people as plenty will buy to game at that price and others will simply collect but if the entry price doubles, the # of people interested will be substantially lower which then further hurts the value for anyone collecting.

I'm hoping tomorrow's release is more reasonably priced....

Special release putters used to usually be $888, then this summer they bumped it to $999. Tour putters start at $1500

You can view the archives to see price history and number made for every release

https://swag.golf/collections/putter-archive

You also get a limited edition/one-off headcover with a special release putter so that has a significant value.

I bought one special putter (off secondary) because it fit basically everything I was looking for - flow neck, sound slot, and site dot, and was visually really cool. I paid MSRP and the seller kept the headcover and sold that separately. But I'm not in a hurry to buy any more...

Swagmas will be a mix - some days will just be headcovers, some days will have F5 refreshes. Maybe another putter, who knows. Last year if I remember right they released Tour bags on the last day.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Ryder Cup set I have to say. Those were some of the best looking covers I've seen. If they guaranteed the wooden box on all sets I would have done it. I have 2 friends who did it and I'm begging them to break up the set and sell me something lol.

Bottom line the whole thing is a giant Tulip market. The facebook/secondary markets drive the pricing to absolutely insane amounts. There's dudes on there who have more money in headcovers than their house is worth.

Tried purchasing a handsome too today and struck out AGAIN. I took everyone’s advice on here and still couldn’t find any luck. Done trying to purchase anything else from these guys.

I mean come on, the putter releases, the odds are horribly low.

For headcover releases I've consistently had about a 50% success rate.
