Scotty Cameron 2021?

I'm still waiting on Fedex to get it together and deliver my 5.5. Has anyone compared the 5 and 11 directly, feel and sound wise? This potential high pitched sound from the 11 has me worried that the 5.5 will also sound similar. I had a Cleveland HB Soft #11 that I loved but had to take it out of the bag because of the ting it would make on longer putts.

My 5.5 makes just a very subtle click and feels amazing.   I have only putted with the 21 Prov1 so far.   I highly doubt you will be disappointed with it.

Yeah a big part of the sound and feel depends on what golf ball you play. When I was putting around with the TP5x it was a lot louder, more click and firmer feel off the face but then when I switched to regular TP5 or Pro V1's it was much softer feel and sound off the face. I think the 5.5 is lower pitched sound than the 11.5 in my opinion due to the more compact head size and less aluminum body.

@Triple yeah, that’s funny because I was going to call it the “Ping driver of putters” but didn’t want to hit the Ping beehive haha. To each his own!

I played again today and tried to focus on the sound and I still didn’t find it distracting. Who knows?

I will say I’m having less success putting now with the 11 than when I first got the SpiderX. Could be me; probably is.

But I’m wondering: maybe it’s the putter face? This is my first milled putter. Anyone think there’s something to the roll tech on the Spider insert?

100% agree with this. Immediately ditched the 11.5 after one round and into the 5.5. Could not take the sound.

So my 5.5 arrived yesterday afternoon. I put it through the paces on my Birdie Ball mat last night. I ordered a 35" with the standard weights. Too be honest, I was not thrilled out of the gates. The head felt light to me and I couldn't feel it very well at all during my stroke. I had some 15 gram weights laying around from previous Scotty experiments and decided to put them in. Oh my goodness, what a difference. That putter came alive after that and now I'm in love. The feel and sound is perfect, and the putter looks amazing at address. I ordered mine 1* strong, but I ended up adjusting it back closer to 3.5* because it sat quite open at the lower loft. Can't wait to get it out on the course this weekend.

Interesting you guys find the 5.5 light.  Maybe it is because I regularly play a 009-M, but my 34" feels plenty heavy to me. Swing weights around D6.5, which ain't light, at least to me.  But different strokes for different folks I suppose.  And I can add, absolutely no issues with the sound and feel of the 5.5.  I am sensitive to pings or tinks, and none of that really with the 5.5.  Great putter.

Yeah I've found a few of the recent comments about it being so light a bit odd. I play a standard 34" 5.5 and the head weight for the 5.5 is 360g. I will say however coming from a Spider X that it does feel a bit lighter despite the Spider X head weight being lighter at 252g but I think part of that is due to the length of the head, which longer compared to the 5.5 more compact design. Also I think shaft and maybe even a bit of grip you use can also alter the feel of the head. I read that most tour players putter head weight is between 330-350 on average due to their more consistent stroke, want more feel/touch/feedback, and faster greens they play. I have considered adding the 20g weights in over the 15g but not exactly sure how much it will impact it. Also I will wait until after I get my new super stroke pistol gt 1.0 grip put on before I decide to add weights. After playing with it for 2 rounds now it feels smooth and I love it. Sound was also not an issue for me with the 5.5 but I recommend playing a softer ball TP5 or ProV1 not the x model balls. But this is just my thoughts and opinions so far after my experiences with the 5.5. Putting and golf is so personal that everyone has they're own preferences.

As I stated, the head felt light TO ME. Obviously that's going to differ from person to person. Opinions on putter balance, weight, etc. is more subjective than any other club in the bag. I just like to feel enough mass in the head that it feels like it's almost swinging itself. It's likely that if I put a 60 gram grip on there versus the 84 grams of the Pistolero Plus, I would think the 10 gram weights felt perfect.

i immediately threw a bunch of lead tape on the bottom of my 11 as I like a really heavy head.

I also have a Garsen Quad grip coming today that im going to put on it. Has anyone else been putting different grips on theirs or sticking with stock?

I put a Lamkin deep etched on my 5.5 and am really enjoying it. Its roughly 5 grams lighter than the stock grip and you can definitely feel the difference, makes the club feel a little more stable for me.

So, 5.5 is a cool putter... but lets talk about headcovers. That thing is HIDEOUS.

Anybody know what aftermarket headcover styles (either from SC or elsewhere) will fit properly on this guy?

You’re looking at either sending it to the CS or finding one on a FB or eBay. Lots of options out there If you’re willing to spend the cash.

From SC at least is a "Mid Round" the right fit for the 5.5? I'm not even sure where to start with the naming conventions!

I had the 2019 5.5 so the head cover doesn’t bother me. The head cover on the PLD got to me after 1 round.  Magnet kept sticking to the head when trying to put it away and was super tight.  Picked up the 21 5.5 today and it seems better in all aspects over the 19 version which I thought was great when I first got it. Maybe get it out on the course this weekend if the Ducati doesn’t take up all of my time.  I’m a firefighter so I prefer to golf during the week with the old retired guys when it’s not so busy.
