As I recall you and I both loved the Toulon Las Vegas, so this is a natural fit!  I have an IBJT and it feels pretty solid, not as soft as Las Vegas but also not as mushy.  I don’t think you would regret this one

I tend to agree.  I wouldn't have minded the JT version in terms of looks, but not at either the original price nor the astronomical secondary market prices.  I don't care for the neon green but at least this one doesn't have it on top the way the current version does with those 3 alignment dots.  Much more looking forward to this cleaner address look.  Speaking of the IBJT model, I wonder how many people dropped the money for that one and now are seeing this and saying "damn, I would have just waited and bought this one for half the price".  I know "inspired-by's" will still hold greater value than OTR models but (just guessing here), I would have to think part of the reason why the JT model was in such demand was the fact that it was the only way at the time to get that head shape without the aluminum and with that neck (short of the going the Circle T route of course).

I can answer this as I sadly fall into all the categories you mentioned... haha. I started with a welded neck tour T5W, and man was it sick. It had the aluminum face which was super soft and all black finish with black shaft.  My biggest grip was the welded neck by Scotty added a lot of weight, so head was kinda hard to get to a good swing weight for me. In my usual manner I heated up the 20g CT weights a bit to remove them from the bond, and after that the sound at impact was different. Might have just been in my head, but I suspect the double sided tape that holds the face might have melted slightly. I was facing a $400 trip to get restored for piece of mind, which I was not stoked on. IBJT hit the boards and I was able to snag two of them, so I flipped the CT and the other JT.  I figured the JT was a third the price and the same putter so why not. Had I believed this would hit retail I would have absolutely waited. It’s the same putter for probably $330-$350?  This is finally what some people have been clamoring Scotty for, I’m surprised he didn’t tweak headshape a bit more, the milling lines and JT are actually a bit different than the 5W. Not that anyone should feel sorry for me, but I doubt the JT even sells for what I paid for it now.  I like the face logo of JT putter, but the sole looks like a Wheaties box and the weld is likely cosmetic.

The one sold on eBay seems to be legit. My only thought is that I’d be surprised if the same 2019 Futura HC comes with it.  
 

I’d have to think Scotty would update this as I can’t recall a new release that used the same HC as a prior release.

Agreed with that... I had concerns it was fake but I'm not an expert.  The headcover was the biggest tip off, I can pretty much guarantee it will come with a new and different headcover.

This is a line extension of the Phantom X and will have four new options in two heads.  The 5 with a double bend face balanced shaft, the 5.5 pictured from eBay with the stant neck are the first two.  The next is a new model, the 11 with a double bend face balanced and an 11.5 with a low bend for toe flow.  The 11 head is similar to the H20 holiday release and is a great looking putter with more grey than the black of the H20.  The head covers should remain the same as the prior Phantom line had.  These are really good looking and have super feel!  Expect full info coming in the next couple of days on Titleist and Cameron's websites.

Is the double bend what was on the OG 2015 X5 or is that something else?

Interesting they are keeping same headcover, not that I really care personally as I use a custom shop cover, but would think he would want to differentiate. I didn’t think the yellow ones were terrible.

It is the same shaft as he's used for many years to get the face balanced.

I’m personally not a fan of the yellow headcovers, it doesn’t really match with the putter. It seems like a lazy move by Scotty Cameron to keep the same exact headcover.

Maybe they planned to keep the black / yellow colorway longer and made a large order of head covers?

The quickly pivot away from that line left them $500k (example number) worth of head covers they didn't want to write off?

Sounds silly, but I know moves like this are very common in sports hardgoods... not sure if it applies to golf or not.

I also don't care for the yellow, but they don't really change covers unless they release an entire new line. This is a new putter within that line, but not an entire new line in itself, so no new cover.

I'd like the stock putter to go back to the Matador grip.. and a different head cover colour would be nice (black/grey ideally..)

Yup, every other year is Select then Futura, or at least has been for some time now. Decent theory from previous poster on headcover being left over. It never matched the putter really. I also thought the pistelero grip was terrible but i know grips are pretty personal. The new blacked out pistolini plus is sleek looking

Can confirm that there will be a 2021 Scotty Cameron line under the phantom name, similar numbering system as well, should be released in 1-2 months.

It’s considered an extension/addition to the current line. So keeping everything consistent.
