Interclub Ryder cup events

Had yours yet this year? Today was day one of. Two of ours. My back is tight, tight....

 

Nothing like competition especially when you have birdie putts on 18 when put away the matches(made one of two so I was 1-0-1)

My club had both of ours, though they were significantly delayed due to COVID. Usually one is in the middle of July and the other is in September. We normally have an awards dinner/party after both, neither of which were allowed to happen this year. The events were still fun, just very different

We still did events at our club. But the province of Quebec cancelled the actual interclub event which for me is one of the best events of the year

 

I am not sure if the states do this as well in the US, but in Quebec the annual interclub tournament is a day where every private club fields a team and you play against 3 other clubs. The rankings are done over time and determine if you are in group 1, 2, 3 etc....Group 1 is the highest, and all 4 clubs in that group will basically field teams where all 10 guys are scratch or better, and they get a good amount of fans

 

There's like 60 plus clubs that compete in it. It's a lot of fun. My home course was in group 2 last year

We got dead last in ours as a team. I went 1-1-1 on an individual basis as our low man. 

 

Its a really cool setup though. 4 cities have showdowns/their own interclub and the winners meet at the rotating venue and have a big 4 team showdown including all the winners from each town (All within an 1 hour of eachother roughly)

 

Its all flighted and our team just wasnt deep enough to compete in straight up matchplay with no strokes.

 

Its 4 guys under 6 cap, 4 guys 7-12 and 4 guys 13-18. The winning team had 2 or 3 easy plus cappers. I got swept rolled by the guy who played me in that match. 

 

Our club usually wins one out of every three or four years to represent our city so its pretty special when we get to go.
