Weird. The LPGA website still shows this as a 54 hole event, but the TV coverage shows 4 days. Obviously it's a 72 hole tournament.

I'm going with Lexi this week.

There're so many mistakes at LPGA.com and at official tournament websites; we're left on our own.

One of the problems with the society is people don't take their jobs seriously, including people who're doing it and people at the top.  It's very clear that Mike Whan isn't a good manager even though he talks a good game.

I assume Mike delegates the IT work.

The website often has "cut and paste" errors. 'Fairly common to cut and paste from previous work, but you're right, verifying correctness seems to have gone by the wayside. I was in IT for over 30 years, and it seems a lot of people can't be bothered to check their work.

Delegation doesn't mean Mike Whan isn't responsible.

A good manager delegates only when he/she thoroughly vetted the person he/she delegates to.

Yes ... ultimately as the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Administrative Officer of the organization, all operational/organizational matters are the responsibility of both Mike Whan and the Board of Governors that oversee him.  Having said that, would you seriously fire or terminate Whan's contract over someone in the digital rmedia/LPGA PR department for not being able to spell correctly or consistently?

I think not.

Furthermore, would you expect your top employee (manager) to interview or screen every single employee?  Because ultimately, they are all reporting to Whan.   No ... that would be a colossal misuse of his time and energy.  @18majors delegation of responsibilities is the order of the day with ALL organizations -- so yes, I agree with that part of your statement.  What Mike Whan is responsible for is the hiring and performance of the individuals that oversee the digital communications and media relations/PR aspect of the organization and they in turn will be directly responsible for the employees hired in their departmental areas.  If there is an issue with the performance of this part of the organization then it is their responsibility to remedy and rectify -- of course, the board and management may be fine with such "mistakes" so long as they do not harm the integral mission of the organization -- we simply do not know.

Also, without much of a financial sponsorship/advertising, if any, I suspect that the amount of work is such that they have had to reduce the amount of time spent on editing and review.   No, the real and direct responsibility is with the managing personnel that oversees that particular part of the operation.   I would also suggest that it is product of the modern educational system as well.  Curriculum changes have resulted in far less emphasis on things such as the three "R"s --  reading, writing, and 'rithmetic.

Now on the Golf itself ... I suspect that @Argonne69 has a good choice in Lexi.  Her play has been pretty good over the past few events.  I am pulling for both Brooke and Patty T. and Jaclyn Lee to do well!

Another example of miscues by LPGA.com

The Tournament Overview still lists the purse at $2,000,000; even though recent updates in articles have indicated a purse of $1,300,000.

I'd be very disappointed if I signed up to play tor $2,000,000 and ended up played for $1,300,000.

If you didn't point this out, I actually wouldn't have known.  I really thought it was $2MM (our board here still has it as such :P)  (BTW, it is for this reason why I kept saying "are you sure Bianca made KPMG" bec I don't trust the website -- remember? 🙂 )  any reason why/how they determine the purse to be 1.3MM i/o 2MM?

@Newinup

I still don't know what the purse will be; but two recent articles mentioned a purse of $1.3  million.

I'm going with Nelly this week, she's hitting it pretty straight and hitting a lot of greens.  If this is the course I have in my head, there's lots of nastiness on approach to the greens.  I was looking for a reason to take one of Nasa, Sei Young or Brooke due tp their scoring averages and Nasa seems like the best option with no track record.  I think Sei Young and Brooke are hurt at this course due to their aggressive style of play, both can really score well but both have that bad round and manage to run into a few double bogies and other mistakes along the way.  One trend I noticed looking at the event is how players finish one year to the next.  One year a player will finish Top 10 and in a year previous will finish in the 50's or miss the cut, so it seems if you are off just a little and are attacking the course you can step on a few land mines.

I'm really concerned about Jaclyn Lee; she may haven't fully recovered.

Her plays at both LPGA and Symetra have been less than encouraging!

I share the same concern.  But she seems to have a really healthy perspective and outlook ... so long as she is physically healthy she should start to rack up some points, finishes and ultimately move up on the money list.   Having said that, she shared that she is having to work on a "new" swing to lessen the stress on her wrist and that might be part of the challenge right there.

I'm still going with Nelly.  I have to be right eventually, right?!  LOL  But I would like to see Sophia Popov play well.

Regardless if she wins or not, I like seeing Emma Talley play.  I hope she enjoys a little more success finishing higher up on the scoreboards.  Class player she is indeed.

Emma is a real head scratcher. Most of you know I'm not a huge fan of the college golf route to the big leagues. Few players in recent years have made a big splash coming out of college. That said, I thought Emma would be one to shine. She's had a few nice finishes, but can't seem to string together enough to kickstart her professional career. She has one top ten this year, and four missed cuts.

Unlike Sophia Popov; Mina's successes at the Cactus Tour hasn't translated onto LPGA yet.

Well to be fair about it, most players will not emulate the success of Sophia Popov and the 2020 AIG Women's Open ... that is part of what made Sophia's story so compelling.
