My comments were pre-COVID though.  As a second year player with better status, I would have been playing.  Further, even if this year is a "throw-away," I can't name many players that wouldn't want to play in a major when they were already willing to travel / in the country.

Regardless, she can do whatever she wants (just like anyone else).  But strictly from the golf perspective, it seems hard to take a golfer that does this too seriously.

Completely agree... I would have been playing covid or no covid... Heck, Bianca played through injury in Qschool so that she can "finish" with some status for this year -- in retrospect, it was worth "the risk" then, whether she places well this year or not... You only live/pro golf once (ok you get some more chances for others but I'm sure you agree)

Good spot.  Still haven’t figured out Nelly’s driver!

Looks like an "old" GBB Epic. Note the small size of the green triangle on the toe, and the green lines in the silver area. The newer Flash models have a larger green triangle, and yellow stripes.

I think they said the fairways have had a lot of traffic since the covid increase in golf participation so the fairways are just pretty worn down with a lot of patchy parts.

Brooke Henderson is such a menacing presence inside the Top-10.  She doesn't need to to much, another -6 might do it.

Other than that, Jennifer Kupcho has used up all her bad shots earlier in the year.  She could be our Rolex first time winner as a sophomore.

I think Brooke is a little too far back but the important thing is she'll think she can win and will be angry when she comes up short and will carry a chip on her shoulder going to the KPMG, which is a good thing IMO.

I see a 1st time winner I just don't know who, a case can be made for and against the top 3.  Nasa might be the one too watch out for, she had an average round today, I would look at her to shoot something low tomorrow.

Mel Reid made a fatal mistake by not birdieing par 5 #18; she's only 5 shots ahead of Brooke.

Brooke will go for it and win if this were CP Women's Open or other bigger events.  But she may not want to overextend her energy for a petty $1.3 million job.

Petty?   😄😂  In most walks of life $1.3 MM would not be a petty amount, but when we're talking something, like professional golf, yes, I understand your point @18majors!!

'Growing a little tired of the Mel talk. Her track record is not good. Let's see if she can win this thing. I'm not holding my breath.

Nine players in the top 10 (and ties) looking for their first win. All of them have been in a position to win before. Will Nasa, Brooke, or Georgia spoil the coronation?

How about a five or six way playoff? Lol. That would be amazing.

There is potential for a player from behind to vulture a win this week.  While the top 10 is littered with unproven players, there's just too many of them, they all can't collapse tomorrow lol.  I will say, the final group should hope to start fast, they don't want Nasa and/or Brooke a shot or two  off the lead on the back 9 thinking they have a chance to win.

I assume you’re joking or being sarcastic due to the reduced purse.    I can’t imagine any professional not going all out to grab a win when it’s within reach.  And as fit as she is and at her age she surely doesn’t need to conserve energy!

It looks like people have written off Melissa Reid.

I wouldn't categorize it as "written off". To write someone off is to ignore their achievements. She doesn't have any achievements. She has two top 10s this year, along with 3 missed cuts. In the full 2019 season she had one top 10, and ten missed cuts. Her average finish when she made the cut was ~50th.

In six tournaments this year where she's made the cut she broke par only once in the final round. I'd say that doesn't bode well for her today.

I know what you mean.

I assume the same was said about Popov at the Open. But that is why we follow the game because it is unpredictable.

I certainly wouldn't say it's not possible. Every season we get a few first time winners. Some are relatively new players on tour, and others are journeywomen who haven't quite got it done in the past. Mel won on the LET, so she's definitely capable. However, like a lot of players she seems to have a Sunday mental block. We'll find out shortly.
