Exactice's Sub70 order

Hey Gang,  Not sure if I can do a review, if it needs to be moved please feel free.  So I wanted to share my experience if that is OK!

I have a thread looking for updated clubs,  doing the ego arguments of MBs vs CB's vs GI's. I finally came to a decision in the thread.  The biggest contemplation was the Cobra MB/CB (I wanted black irons LOL) combos which were hard to find at an affordable rate.  The recommendation of Sub70 was then suggested.  1 weekend of research, a phone call the following Monday 09/21/2020 and I was Sold.  The sales manager Cody was unbelievable. It was almost impossible to not purchase after the discussion.

I gave him my custom specs,  I told him I live in the middle of the pacific ocean, which was not a problem and to my surprise.....09/28/2020 EXACTLY one week later,  look what showed up at my door... 1 WEEK, yeah thats right, I am shocked!!!

Beautiful box!  and what a surprise to see it at my door steps.
Opening.jpg.caa6f928625626742fbcaa1073435106.jpg

Great packaging and a bunch of goodies.  I know there are videos of "openings" on YouTube, but I had to see for myself, I was NOT disappointed!  Sub70 Hat that I will be rocking till it falls apart.  Sub70 tees,  Ball marker, stickers and MOST important......THE ABSOLUTELY most important, (yes more than the clubs), a Hand Written letter addressed to me, thanking me and assuring the accuracy and commitment to my order. A forgotten art that reverberates through a customer forever.

A little effort goes a long way!

In my experience, customer service is pretty much dead, but I'm glad to see that isn't the case here.

Enjoy your new set of sticks, they look awesome!

OK Gang, Just Got done hitting some shots.

I warmed up as best as I could,  I intended to hit 5 shots each club and take the data.  I admit I was having a weird warm up.  So when I starting taking data shots, I was having some bad strikes. My data may have a little bias as I was throwing out the "really" bad missed shots. But I wanted to show the consistent good shots.  With that,  I would say 1 out of 5 would be a terrible outlier during testing in regards to the PW only

PW Shots, If you notice I had a LOT of toe location strikes honestly not sure why at the beginning (possibly figured out something, below).  These would then give me skewed 120yish weak shots.  again I admit I threw out the terrible strikes due to operator error.  I ended up taking more than 5 shots and just kept hitting to check and verify as I was cautious about the results.

I dont feel that I hit 139y PW with any regularity, likely 130-135ish (132y) . So this bothered me quite a bit,  the smash factor was oddly high, the ballspeed I always feel good about with my system. the Swing speeds were a little wonky and off, which I always believed.  But the averages dont lie..... Somehow I was getting about 139y carry averages...

6iron,  I was actually hitting this good (or it felt good LOL), I did have a heel and toe shot evident of the photo, but I would say 90% were in the middle, and felt good.

6iron, yet again,  seemingly longer.  I would say 170-175y with any regularity. Meaning if there was a Par 3 175y no wind, I would hit a 6iron.  But to say 178y carry and per the data above 181y.... I am a little weary and cautious.

With that, This CB actually feels UNBELIEVABLE, to the point, I might consider getting the PW-8iron, 4&5 iron to just round the whole set out!

Something about these CB's are shocking, and feels amazing!!!

@Exactice808good luck with the irons!!! I live just over an hour away form their HQ and was one of the first to game the MB's when they became available. played the 639 CB in the 4,5,6 and MB in 7-P. Loved everything about them. As good of feel as anything out there for a blade. Yes Mizuno's will feel softer but Sub70 definitely does not feel like $600 irons

I also like that they are very slightly thicker for a blade. You get all of the playability which a little more forgiveness

The black was not available when I ordered mine last April but im going to either order a set of Black MB's or most likely the raw mb's when they become available! Definitely the best bang for your buck in golf IMO

OK so WHAT gives,  Seemingly, I am hitting most of these clubs 3-5y longer on average.  Especially when a quality strike is applied.  To increase this distance I need to be either swinging faster,  Getting more efficiency or the lofts are stronger.

1) I have the spec sheet and I trust the specs are true, they weakened all the lofts to my current lofts that I play, PW -46*, 8iron-38* and 6iron-30* so I am going to rule out lofts

2) I could be swinging faster,  I have been working on my swing....a little

3) The Strikes were so so per the pictures... PW especially I was hitting a LOT on the toe.  8iron and 6 iron much better center efficiency but I would not say my "Best" strikes but good strikes non the less.

So I dove into it some more to try and figure out possibly why.....I found something that could contribute to the distance.

The total club weights.

639irons -

PW- 442g (14g lighter)

9- 439g (17g)

8-431g (17g)

7-427g (14g)

6-422g (15g)

Cobra MBs

PW- 461

9-456

8-448

7-441

6-437

Each club was almost 15g lighter over all compared to my prior gamers MB's.

The drop in over all weight could be helping increase my swing speed overall allowing better ballspeed.

*EDIT*

Im Noticing something else with the numbers specific

The 8iron , Launch angle in the 639MB 20* vs 22* in the Cobra MB's

The 8iron , Spins, 639MB - 8678rpms  vs 8381rpms with the Cobra's

6iron, LA 639CB 14.4* vs Cobra MB 18.3*

6iron spin 639CB 6956rpms, vs Cobra MB 7091rpms.

Both the 8&6 irons have lower more penetrating ball flights.  the spin is close,  but the launch angle seems to be showing a difference. I wonder if this is adding a more optimal flight??

I play tomorrow, so I will get a Great live chance to measure distances.

I will keep up the info!

Great info.  Thanks so much.  I currently have the CB 6 iron (modus 105 S) that I'm comparing to my T200s.  I really like how it feels and I hit it really well, love the turf interaction better for me than the T200s.  The sub70 hybrids already knocked my titleist hybrids out of the bag.  Think I will order 7-PW cb since I'm hitting the 6 iron so good.  Customer service is top notch and the clubs are great.

Full round played.....I took more swings than I wanted LOL!... Clubs held up just fine, I admit I was not hitting much of these irons though.  I was hitting more wedges and 4&5irons.... It was feast or famine.......

Anyways  I am AGAIN edifying..... the CB's though are AMAZING.  I have been playing Blades for a while,  But the CB's seem way more crisp. Contact and distance where way more solid.  This is in strong contrast to the AP2s THere is a significant difference between the AP2s and CBs.

8th Hole Par 3, 170y away,  wide green and hit a great shot to the center of the green, contact felt great.  2 putt par.

9th hole, is a short challenging par5, Hit 4 iron off the tee into a trap,  Hit the 6iron perfectly from the trap (171y)  to 60y of the pin, super easy to hit out of the trap.  tight chip shot to 3ft made birdie.

16th hole I was in jail again far right between trees, Hit a high draw up and around some trees and landed pin high on the right fringe, chip on 1 putt par.

I actually Struggled with the PW, could not get a solid strike till about hole 14 ( Hit about 3 legit PW prior, but distances were all short)

Hole 14, I was in jail in the trees about 124 short sided pin, I launched it over the trees next to the pin about 6ft. made the putt for birdie...

15th hole was a short Par3 into the wind 120y, Took a full PW at it, and landed about 10ft short. missed the birdie.

But the front 9 with the 3 PW all short and toesided misses, did not feel good the first 9 holes.

All in all SUPER pleased with the purchase ZERO doubts.  Cant wait to get more play time.  Wish I could get this M3 figured out now LOL!!!!

I am a satisfied new Sub70 owner!

LOL!!! HEEHE, Well to be fair, I am going to throw the question back to you?  What would you like to know? AHAH

On the serious note though,

1) The Black finish has held up NICELY.  Its been 4 weeks yes, I think i Have played at least 6 rounds with them now. ZERO black deterioration on the sole, I did notice though I do have a nicked imprint on the PW might have been a rock caught between the ball and face, unfortunately.  But that may indicate the "soft" feel of the irons.

2) My game sucks....LOL but when I am on, these clubs are solid.

3) I have accepted that the CB's are FREAKING AMAZING  I am considering ordering the remainder of the CB's,  PW-8iron and then the 5 & 4irons.   The  7&6 iron CBS are AMAZING!

ALL in all GREAT Clubs.... I probably will never be able to buy other clubs again LOL!!

You can stop after this as I found some personal issues, BUT something to consider

I found a HUGE personal hole in my old golf clubs that has messed me up a little,  Something felt different with the SUB70's it "felt heavier" .   I can say,  the SUB70 combos are all D2/D3 swing weights.  nearly perfectly across the board. (this is with the Rifle PX 6.0) So what gives.......

My Cobra with the Rifle PX 6.0 are all D0??? (never checked, never thought to check)  I have been playing 2 years with D0's.  So when I grabbed the Sub70's they felt head heavy, that's when I decided to check the Sub70, finding them at D2 and then thinking OMG my other irons are a mess.

Now what makes it worse. My old AP2's with X100 factory,(I played prior to getting the Cobras and alternated once in a while as I mention in the other thread hoping for forgiveness)  were D3's I had the shafts pulled with Nippon 1150GH's NOT checking the Swing weights.   I check them the other day, all C5-C7s!!!!! WTF!!! WAY OFF!!

The last part of this messed up puzzle.  the 2 Taylormade MC's  4&5irons... PX 6.0 rifles.... C5 & C8.  FFS!!!!!  I had a bunch of metal putty and lead tape, since I am using the MC's and got the 4&5irons to D2 and D0(ran out of tape and putty)  To get them close to the SUB70's

Got all the Swing weights sorted out and played yesterday. Shot an 80, with a Triple & double back to back on the front.  43 front 37 back.

8 GIR, my normal 32 putts.

But 3 penalties all waters LOL.  That stupid 7th hole I hit 5 wood layup off the tee into the water, drop and hit the same 5 wood into the water again LOL damn...

Back.png.fa048c1ce1931a3200aa77260db7c17f.png

Playing today with a client.... so Hopefully now that I got the swing weights settled.... maybe I can keep some type of score consistency.

FFS... I have alternated between D0 and C5's for the last 2 years... .Craaaaappppp!!!

Thanks Sub70 for Give me LEGIT real clubs that match the spec sheets!!!!

I'm currently demoing a 6&9 iron in both the 639 CBs and the 699 pros.  I had an idea of building a combo set between the two, maybe 4-6 in the 699s and 7-9 in the CBs.  I like my Vokey PW so don't need that club at the moment.

Could not agree more on the CBs...those things are awesome!  The 699 Pros are nice, but to quote the late Dennis Green, they "are who we thought they were!" If you are looking at the HMBs or 770s they could be a good value alternative to look at for sure.

On the other hand, I have been flushing everything with the  639 CBs.  In terms of launch, they remind me a lot of the Ping i210s.   I'm glad you said something about the flatter sole and sharper trailing edge, it's pretty unique and not something I have seen in a while but they do sole up beautifully behind the ball.  Definitely one to look at if you are looking in the player's cavity back market.

Ok, so I did some inspection,  I found a knick on the back of the club (Back topline, near the letters CB)  and some rear relief black finish deterioration.  Odd that its coming off the back like that?

I hardly use the 7 iron. So I am assuming the odd wear is bag chatter, I do not have covers LOL.IMG_7209.jpg.9abc5c506f91d17b2d6178cdb5ed5927.jpg

Sub70 players,  Do you notice similar wear due to bag chatter?

I've only had mine for a week and they are the satin cb's.  I don't use iron covers so I'm expecting bag chatter so not too worried about it.  So far they are looking fine.  I'll keep an eye on them and update down the road after more use.  My friend has the MBs in black and uses iron covers so they look great after several months.

Wow those look amazing, I really hope this company does well and talk about all the extra little goodies that came with your irons. Wish more companies were this generous. Hit them well and hope more buyers will post their their experience with this company. I don't see these in my future but I see more recreational golfers getting into the game as the price is so reasonable.
