Callaway EPIC Replacement

If the new LS head is shaped like the triple diamond you can count me in!!! I wanted one of the Mavrik Sub Zero triple diamonds this year, but being left handed it wasn't even an option. I will say, I'm not a huge fan of how the new epic flash looks, but I can get over that if it's shaped right and performs well.

It’s an option, just a very limited one. And it’s the best driver I’ve ever owned.E2E7856D-13FB-4651-9B2D-A621956F2EDC.jpeg.2db0c2ae05613ada1fa85525dd7ccacb.jpeg

It is pretty amazing.  I was surprised to see how much more playable it was than the retail SZ.  Definitely a little more forgiving.  I was worried that there would be a ton of fade bias.  But, I still hit draws with it without issue.

X Forged CB is in no way more forgiving than Apex Pro. X Forged CB if you want not quite as long distances, and more consistent distances(no cup face). Go Apex Pro if you want a bit more help on mis hits, at the expense of them maybe going too far if you have a lot of speed. Luckily having too much speed for them is not a problem of mine....

The new Apex Pros look absolutely stunning. I think they will make a lot of people very very happy.

Really pumped about seeing these new Apex and Apex pro's

want to combo a set.....apex 5,6,7 / pro 8,9,pw

Tried the x forged cb and found them soft and sweet, but not enough help just off-centre as I would like

LS= Big head with a deep face, triangular shape, very low spin and fade bias. The new Sub Zero. Think Triple Diamond shape

Speed= The new standard Head. Smaller profile than either the Max or Max LS

Max= Big head very forgiving with slight draw bias. Also has a slightly triangular shape

Speed sounds like the one for me.....haven't gamed a Callaway driver since the V-series.....need spin, but Not draw bias ..so usually eliminates SZ and draw versions...

any ideas if the Speed may work for me?  Ping 425 still has my eye....

Got to see the new offerings on Friday, no pictures allowed and was not a demo and hit them day. Only thing not there was new Apex Pro irons.

Fairways - both bonded.  No Sub zero, the "standard" epic speed is suppose to be lower spin while Max is more draw bias

Hybrids - never a Callaway hybrid fan.  Standard no thanks, the new Apex Pro hybrid looks good

Drivers - yes three heads, Epic Speed Max, Epic Speed, Epic Speed Max LS.  Max is higher handicap, draw bias, Max LS is replacement for Subzero.  Longer front to back, different than previous years Subzero heads.  This is to add MOI and increase forgiveness while lower spin.  As I was told, head made for tour guys to get into the low spin head but still give forgiveness, movable back weight, neutral will be close to fade bias

Epic Speed head - standard, looks great, very much like Mavik head shape.  No moveable weight.

From what I was told, FWIW - better overall forgiveness in all driver models, new jailbreak helps stabilize head more, resulting in .5 to 1.2 ball speed gains.  Obvious with .5 being low end, pretty much its a mute point, I took it and he confirmed to me, the 1 mph gains are from someone that gains efficiency based on the extra forgiveness.

Personal opinion the standard head looks good, the Max LS will grow on you.  The bottom where all the color and design is for all those times we HAVE to look at it is fine.  I like the green more than Mavrik orange but thats me.  Will I upgrade, why not I have shop credit.  Will I see results, probably not worth it.

Any idea on new wedges? I’ve seen the JAWS Forged on the Japan site, wondering if that will make it stateside...

Is the new Max LS as deep as the Mav Sub Zero? For some reason I think this things is gonna be awesome. I know the G425 lst and TSI3 is getting lots of love, but I think this is gonna be the #1 driver when the dust settles.

Bottom of the club is rough looking. Thought that about epic flash and it performed so I played it but this is one of the worst looking clubs I think I’ve seen from the bottom.

I've seen /got a picture of the Epic Max.....has weight track, 4 jailbreak poles and a splash of green color.....not sure what makes it hideous........ different,  maybe busy but as long as it performs like you said......I'm hoping sound of mavrik with efsz adjustments!

The bottom is where much of the club tech lives so there’s (likely) a story for what you see on the sole.

I've been mostly a Taylormade driver guy for past 20yrs;  Titleist prior ......I've had decent success when I've tried a Callaway offering and they make very good equipment like everyone else....obviously

Reached a point now where I can tweak yardage mostly from swing change allowing higher flight coupled with the lower spin offerings.....so the 425 lst, sim 2.0 and Callaway epic max ls will all get hit before a purchase is made...... it will be fun as usual!

I like to hit a little squirmy hook fade/slice... kinda shape like an S or stretch the s out more so its not as curvy because im not good enough to hit a big S shot. I call it the hot squirm... its like medium height but stingy-ish. Real great shot comes in handy when you have a doggyleg left to then right. Starts out right hard... goes back left hard

.. then gently falls fade slicey to the right... only downfall is sometimes it makes me dizzy when i do manage to get my eyes on it and sometimes cost me a stroke on next shot. Proud to have a shot that even the big boys cant understand.

This all relates because i use my callaway mavrik for the shot and cant wait for epic to help get S more defined hopefully.
